I've never been to the BBR finals. Is it worth it ? It looks fun I was trying to decide if it would be better to do that or Joseys Reunion next year. I don't think I can afford both.

I went a few years ago and had a blast. However, I'd rather go to the Bonus Race Finals which are closer to me but I'll probably go to the BBR again in a couple years. I've never been to Josey's.

BBR is a 1st class event. No other barrel race compares!

I used to go before it got SO huge, in fact, I have a saddle, buckles and several coats from the BBR. Anymore, I'm just not into huge productions. But yes, it is well worth it if you have a 1D horse or if you get lucky and win in one of the other Ds. It is EXTREMLY well-ran.

I don't really think it is when you compare how much it costs to enter and what the payout is. For those that are going to be in the top 5 of the 1D it may be worth it but not so much if you aren't one of those people. It is a very well ran show though.

Last time I went was 2012. Hate to miss it but had to choose other priorities so rejoining went on the back burner. Fun time but with so many entries, placing is really a crap shoot.

Nope. You wait in line for everything at BBR! No matter where you are at any given moment, you are a LONG way from where you have to be in the next given moment. RV park is supposed to be first come but I got there early last year and was lucky to get a spot. Tons of RV spots had chairs marking them as sold when the trailers were still hours and hours away. Smoking was allowed in the Super Barn which was where I was stalled. The amonia smell was sickening by day 3.  Dirt sucked in coliseum. The group taking pictures in coliseum were totally rude. I went to WBR finals back in Booger's day and had FUN. BBR was not fun. It just misses somehow.

Meh. I live 15 miles from the fairgrounds. Takes me maybe 20 mins. to get there. I don't do it anymore. Super crowded and all concrete. For me personally, large barrel races are kind of a grind anymore. If your horse likes the ground at Josey's then it is more "fun" I'd say.

I guess this is me too, although I am 2.5 hours' away. Giagantic races are just more stress than I want to deal with - I am old!

Me too, even if well run but so big that getting checked in, getting stalls etc takes forever I don't go.  The big shows I do go to I am able to get there as soon as the grounds open so I can avoid the lines, get the horses set up and relax a little.

Just to clarify...No, smoking is NOT allowed in the SuperBarn or inside ANY of the buildings, arenas or barns.  If you see it and they don't extinquish their cigarette when asked, tell someone in the show office or go to the State Fair Park office in the Arena to have it stopped.

I was blessed to pickup checks the couple of years I went to the BBR Finals, had a blast, spent lots of money, and was exhausted! I plan to get my qualifiers next year and go back! One of the BEST times I have ever had! They rent golf carts now so if a few buddy up it makes for an easier trip, plus we were fortunate enough to park in the VIP parking and that was a plus! It may cost more but so worth the extra $$$$. I have made a few really great friends here on BHW and that is where I seem to be able to see them so I get so excited because I have missed them since the previous year. I havent gone in 3 years so I am ready to go again, I think I am rested up enough from all the fun from the last year that I went! I did love the Booger Barter Races, but the BBR Finals are amazing as well.

It is very well worth it! I've been going to it for approximately ten years and wouldn't miss it! Well run show, great ground, payout is good and lots of vendors! Friendly people too!

I did tell the show office. Twice. Two times they went and told this lady she couldn't smoke in the barn. She would put that one out and light another the moment they left. She wasn't the only one. I was a vendor last year and went stall to stall. One of the big name furturity riders that had several stalls rented in the Super Barn had cigarette butts all over the place. It may be illegal, but it wasn't enforced.

Just to claify - Smoking is not allowed in the Super Barn by order of the fire marshall, but that regulation WAS NOT enforced by the BBR show staff.
