Location: Rocky Mountains | Hi I'm just curious as to what kinda feed will make are horse super "hot" I don't want some grain that keeps the horse calm and energized. I have my reasons as to why I'm looking for this so don't go on some rant. 707 has some minerals that would do that I just have no experience with it so I don't know how effective that would be. Maybe tell me a bit from your experience.
And I also am looking for some feed to aid in muscle growth rather than just pack on the pounds of fat. Just tell me what you feed and your experience with it:) |

Location: Pacific Northwest | Omolene 500 made my horse stupid hot. I was putting weight on him after being really sick and that was all the feed store had, so he was on that plus Glo N Go by Formula 707 along with beet pulp/alfalfa pellets/rice bran. But he gets that last part normally and he's had the Glo N Go before so I'm pretty sure it was the Omolene 500 that sent him over the edge. He looked really good though haha |

| It also has to do with timing of the feed, some nutritionists say 2 hours some say 4 hours.
It's like a chocolate/sugar rush and kids
I would be testing the horse for Pssm, and epsm before as the starches can cause a horse with either disorder to tie up |

Omelene 200 turned my horse into a spooking, twitchy nutcase... I could only imagine 500!!! He probably would have had a heart attack mid pattern and killed us both! lol |

| Any of the feeds mentioned, then put some red cell or lixitonic on top = BOOM! Had one that you couldn't get hot enough, and the Omolene 200/red cell combo seemed to do the trick. Might want to add something else for weight/muscle though depending on the horse. |

Location: Kentucky | I think you can get a quality feed that will keep weight on and a horse energized and feeling good without the "hotness". Maybe our defintion of "hot" is different, but I don't like mine hot. Hot to me is when they are constantly amped up and the focus just isn't there. Short attention spans. Hot doesn't always equal fast. Usually it doesn't, actually.
I would look into quality feeds that are known to make a horse look and feel good. Sorry if this is a "rant", but as someone who has recently changed their feed program, I look at feeds very closely now. Just like people, if you feed a child a candy bar they will become hyper. If you feed them fruits and veggies, they will be nourished and grow. |

Ditto! Ditto!
I haven't ever heard of someone wanting their horse "hot". But, like Murphy said, maybe we have different definitions of "hot".
My husbands rope horse is "hot" when its around an arena, he turns into a nutcase, kids cannot ride him, he isn't safe by any means getting so worked up and "hot". My husband has had enough and is begging me to find supplements to try. Truthfully, if we don't find a supplement that works for him, he will be for sale. |
