Location: NC | I need something for my new guy. I've been treating him for ulcers on account of the poor condition he was in when I bought him. He has a few issues on the pattern. At home, he's a rockstar. Outside the pattern at a show, he's a rockstar. But trying to make him do slow work or even just relax on the pattern in exhibitions is rough. He's on GO constantly.
What is your go-to for one that needs just a little edge taken off ONLY at a show? I don't want to drug him up. He doesn't need that. Just something to take the edge off and help him relax and focus on working.
I've looked into THE Calming cookies and some of the pre race OxyGen products. So if anyone has reviews on those, please share! Including if your horses actually eat the calming cookies. Lol

| We had success using Quietex on our show heifers. I have used on my horses with mixed results. If it works, it does the first time. I have good success with YL Peace and Calming essential oil for my gelding. I have also used Bach Remedy but I had to use it every 5 minutes or so for him to get the effects. I think I gave it 3 or 4 times. However, it was very easy to use and did help at a clinic I went to right after he lost some sight in his right eye. Good luck with your new horse.  |

Location: Texas | I'm curious too. My husband's rope horse is about to push him over the edge, so we are looking into calming supplements for the horse, or Xanax for my husband. Lol
His horse has always been overly hyped up in the arena. It doesn't matter if he's at the house practicing, a roping or just riding in the arena. Just a nutcase. It hasn't gotten worse but my husband is just tired of dealing with it. It isn't from soreness, ulcers or diet. He has been thoroughly checked by Dr. Honnas and diet was adjusted over a year ago. It also isn't from seperation, it's 100% the arena setting.

Location: Broxton, Ga | I've tried "most" the I swear they work...over the counter stuff...but honestly ACE or chlorpromazine DO work......now with that said......I am now feeding B1 daily and am getting good results and not giving anything at the shows......
As for the exhibitions unless he really needs it.......it might be best to just not........that might solve all your problems....just a suggestion.

Location: Kansas | Clifford has sampled a lot of calming products. LOL. I think Quietex paste got the best results, and two other good options are SmartCalm Paste from SmartPak and InTheZone paste from Animal Element. ITZ only has to be given 30 minutes out so its a lot easier to time when you give it, but he doesn't like the taste of it. Quietex & SmartCalm must taste better because he doesn't fight nearly as bad when I give them. |

Yes, that is it. I have some 32 dose bags available for $45.95 shipped and they are designed to be fed daily. Some can get away with less and some can do more if needed.
"Administer one scoop per day as a daily supplement. For those horses that are competing administer 2 scoops (One dose in the morning and one dose an hour before competition) on the day of the competition. Can administer up to 4 scoops a day 3 times a day." |

That's what I was curious about, as well. Since Radar only acts this way in the arena, I didn't know if it needed to be in his system 24/7 or within 24hrs of a show.
It honestly doesn't make a difference to hubs or I, just picking your brain.

I have customers that just use it as needed, but I can't really sell it to you that way because I don't know of that would work for your individual horse and it is directed to be used daily. Up to you though.

| I haven't read all the comments but I have read alot that fat can be very calming! Also omega 3s I beleive. Try contribute an omega 3 supplement developed by the university of Kentucky. Really helps inflammation and joint health amoung other things! |
