Has anyone else started seeing lots of ticks already, way more than in the past? None on the horses, but dogs and cattle already have lots. We bumped our dosages on the cattle and our dogs get their monthly flea and tick dose. Anything I can put out around the barns and pens to minimize them?

They are horrible between my geldings legs. I picked about 20 off him yesterday. I've caught a few crawling on me, they latch onto the dogs....then crawl off them onto me ICK!!!!

Yep they are awful in ND too.

Should add I picked 2 off my geldings head and he isn't even out to pasture yet. Not sure how that works in a dry lot. :/

spray around the barns with Tempo, walls, ground, everything! it's safe once it's dry so you don't have to worry about the animals or people. I spray inside my house with it too. Kills everything, flies, ticks, fleas, grass hoppers, spiders, scorpions(not as good on them). Lasts a couple months inside, I spray once a month outside and in barns and trailers.

As my family's Official Tick Picker, I can confirm that they are out in full force. I saw one crawling on my bath tub while I was in there. Then a few days later one was attached to my knee. I have found one on each dog and my dad had one on his neck this morning.

I hate them with a passion and I can't get rid of them off my dogs no matter what I try.

It does make me feel a little better that it's not a west Texas tick infestation going on here.
Like I said, fingers crossed, haven't seen any on the horses, but our poor dogs are covered with them. I literally picked 6 off one blue heeler this morning, saw only ONE flea. Mind you, I picked 5 off the same dog yesterday afternoon. Ugh. My poor puppies.

FJT, THANK YOU for your recommendation. I'm about to get online and see if they will overnight it to me. No joke.

I believe it's made by Bayar. I bet your local Coop would carry it or if you have a Atwoods, Tractor Supply, Murdochs, Orschlen's they would probably have it. It's expensive but it's concentrated and lasts awhile.

I stopped by TSC and picked up a sulphur block for the horses. A friend of mine said to take a supplement called B-1....walmart sells it. It's basically sulphur pills for people, keeps ticks away. I'm going to try it as well.

Have a call to the vet now because one horse has an ear she won't let me near. She normally loves ear massages but not today. Same ear last year too. He said to spray fly spray into the ear. It will kill them. I just cant get close enough to that ear.

Let us know how it works! Surely, it isn't harmful to dogs..?
