Location: East Texas | Unless you are one of the top few running the rest is just a crap shoot on where you fall. I was just thinking about all the times my daughter was just above or below the pay lines... This weekend she was 2/100 from winning her division and a saddle, but she tied for 5th. All part of the fun. We are headed back this weekend to see what happens. |

Location: East Texas | lol...... All in good fun. Sunday was run slowest qualifying time to fastest. So the lead time changed a lot. Had fun rooting for those that followed us to speed up or slow down. There have also been those times when you are 2/100 too fast.

Winning run was a 545 and I ran a 035.....however.....it was a horrendously run show and they ended up having to stop in the middle with 36 riders left. So the added money got sent back to the sponsors and they paid it like a jackpot I guess. I just left because it was so ridiculous. |

Location: CTX | I hear ya, my first ever Win$More I was .008 to fast to be winning the 6D.... that was my first "big" show... I was just thrilled I left them all standing and didn't hurt myself... (I think we ran at like 2am, so it was a long day....) And a couple of years ago I ran at one of Boogers race on Friday night, ended up sitting right on the 1st place in 6D. (like winning time was a 15.057, and I ran a 17.057) for the entire weekend!!! And this was for $3500, a saddle, a buckle and some more stuff.... (being put in the drawing for $50,000 also...) so we drove back to Waco on Sunday afternoon.... was still sitting golden before we left... got there, and in the last 30 runners somebody changed the fast time while we where on the way!!! Oh man, I have to admit, that hurt a bit.... but it's all part of the game.... and I have been lucky a few times, but never got close to anything like that again... I just tell myself that the people that ended up winning needed it more than I did... but that buckle sure would have been nice.... |

Yes, yes it is. Y'all in Kansas would use the shorter version: Crappy. Not to be confused with crappie. |

Nearly all of my life I have run where the top three or four took the money home. I was lucky and had a horse that always fell in the top three. That was then and this is now--laughing. Around here (and I live where CrossD lives) if they paid the top three or four there would be maybe 50 horses at a barrel race. With the 4D system there are 150 at a small monthly barrel race. It puts everyone on the same playing field. |

Location: Red Raiderland | Last weekend at the BBR Finals I made it to the shortgo on one of my mares. The winning time was a 15.340..........I ran a 16.339!!! Yep, 1/1000th off of winning $8135.00. It wasn't a great run for my mare as she flew waaaay past first so I wasn't really expecting anything but dang, it is still painful to think about it even today. I have been in the last hole many, many times but that was a lot of money to see be that friggin close. Congrats to the woman from Colorado that did win it though. I was happy to make it back to the finals and win a decent check for that. CrossDRanch, it is a real crap shoot, though. |

Location: Arkansas | My husband likes to point out to me there is no such thing as "too fast". He says that sounds stupid. His theory is, you weren't "too fast" for a 2D check, you were "too slow" for a 1D check, lol. I totally understand what you are saying though--there have been times I was "way too slow" for a D due to a craptastic (I'm from AR, I can use that word, lol) run and I've thought to myself, "if I/horse was going to mess up, we should have done a little better job of messing up and at least gotten paid for it"

Sounds a lot like my husband....not really one to cut me any slack. LOL
Unless you're hitting the 1D, it's just a lotto (but it sure is fun!) |

Location: MD | I have done this more than once.
I rode both of my boys in the open and they both ran the exact same time. TWICE I have lost out on taking 1st&2nd in the 3D and 4D and winning some good bucks. that is an awfully long ride home after realizing that I could have won a few hundred instead of a hair too fast to win $0
at least it's all in good fun! |
