Location: Probably On the Road to the Next Barrel Race! | Last year my mare began rubbing in September, and completely rubbed out her mane and tail. Two weeks ago she started again...vet said give 10cc dex orally for 5 days...that seemed to stop it, but now it's back. I'll call vet tomorrow, but what is a possible fix for this?? |

Location: Adopt a homeless pet - www.petfinder.com! | I got this spray from my vet last month because we're trying to avoid putting my gelding on regular steroids. So far so good. Â I spray it on the areas where he tends to rub (head and neck) and rub it in with my hand. http://www.kineticvet.com/products/equishieldibh-spray.php. Â They make a salve and wipes, also. It was about $46 for a bottle.

Location: TN | No advice but I'm bumping this up because my boy gets especially itchy in the spring/summer. I'm planning to talk to my vet this week but I'm curious to see everyone's responses on here too. Good luck - it can be so frustrating when they scratch their mane out. |

Location: Arkansas | Micro-Tek Equine Spray has worked wonders for my mare. She is really sensitive to bites of any kind. When I spray her with this, the welts, etc are usually gone in one day and she gets relief immediately. |

Location: God's country...aka TEXAS | I use OxySheen by Oxygen. My boys break out in hives and get very itchy every spring/summer. I don't like giving them dex everyday either. I put this in their feed everyday and it keeps their skin etc itch free. http://texasoxygen.com/products/oxy-sheen/ |

| Doremectin injection. I think that is how it is spelled. We have awful bug problems. Since doing this monthly (only$18) success!!! |

I don't think so, but it may be one of those things that they only set up vets as distributors. I got it from mine. |

I don't think so, but it may be one of those things that they only set up vets as distributors. Â I got it from mine.
I found it on allivet and valley vet no script for $21 and $26 |

Location: NE Texas | I'd encourage you to look into the Cur-Ost products from Nouvelle Research. They turned my allergy ridden horse into a brand new man. His haircoat feels like silk and while his allergies have been mostly respiratory, the results in his physical appearance and mental well being have been pretty dramatic! My horse was unresponsive to all anti-inflammatory medications as well as steroids. We had him on 8 cc of Ventipulmin daily (recommended by vet) as well as Dex and he didn't improve. The Cur-Ost has truly changed his, and my life!!!! It is the only thing i'm supplementing and will probably be the only thing I will ever supplement again. I think it would be worth contacting Dr. Schell and investing in the product. |

We will continue once a month until September. |

Believe me, I know. I exhausted every other option (including supplements of all kinds) prior to this of things not working. LOL I was a big time skeptic and probably had a couple of weeks of consultation with Dr. Schell before I finally bit the bullet and ordered. Had I gone directly to the Cur-Ost i'd be money WAY ahead! |

Location: Texas | You might also try BugCheck. We have a horse that will rub his rump till the hair falls off his body and tail head. He would also get his head eaten alive. If he stays on BugCheck in the summer, we don't have problems.
This horse is also thin hided and I think more susceptible to bugs, etc. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I wonder if putting your horse on a supplement like HealthyCoat would help, I use this and love how clean and shiny my horses coat is, but he dont have itchy skin so cant tell you if this would help are not.. |
