| Does anyone have experience with tendon injuries? In March, my barrel horse cut his leg, and in doing so also had blunt trauma to the tendon higher up. It's a long healing process, so far it's been 3 months of 10 minuet walking daily. We just started Smart Pak tendon/joint rehab pellets, just wondering if anyone else has dealt with something like this. Now it's anywhere from 6-12 months before we're back in competition. I don't want to rush him, I just want a full recovery. It's so hard though! When he gets the green light from the vet, what is the best way to strengthen his legs back up, he's been in a tiny pen for the last 3 months.
Edited to Add- It's similar to a bowed tendon for recovery, but the vet said it's messy scar tissue trying to heal around the digital flexor tendon sheath.

| Had a similar thing happen to a mare. I used Platinum Performance 6 scoops a day according to manufacturer. I also talke to SG on here about PHT magnets and used them per her recommendation. We can now ride her. The vet was not sure we would ever be able to. |

| I had CRT (Cell Regeneration Therapy) done on a horse. I don't know if your horse is a candidate for it. He was in a small pen for 6 months and then I took another 2.5 months legging him back up. The horse did fully recover. |

Its's fairly new and only done by a select few vets is probably why. I had to ask my vet about it and kind of got the cold shoulder. I went straight to the source after that, doctor Reese Hand in Weatherford, Texas. He will answer all your questions, tell you if your horse is a candidate and assist you in getting to the closest vet who does it. This is absolutely the way to go I believe and as I said if mine re injures (please please please no) I will for sure go this route. It was so interesting just to talk with Dr. Hand and learn about something so new and exciting. Just call him and talk with him if only for the knowledge. |

Do you know how expensive the treatment is?
He said about 1700.00 but I guess it would depend on which vet did the treatment, some may charge less or more. That was back in July of 2014. I was in the middle of the PRP treatments already so decided to see if they worked first. It sounds like a lot of money but considering it reduces rehab time by almost half (in most cases), promotes a strong internal brace and lasts throughout the life of the collagen cell (which is several years, 3 to 4 is what I was told) I thought it was a reasonable price. |

| I wouldn't worry about a feed through unless you're doing it for the sake of doing it.
I would be doing Runners Relief poultice every day and Game Ready. Then probably be looking at light swimming to get going again when it's time.
Of all of them, I'd be for sure doing the Runners Relief. |

| We used Novobrace on an 18 year old gelding that bowed his tendon. It looked awful when it happened. He will go back to running this month. It was worth every penny!!!! |
