| Okay, my mare is going on three weeks overdue...... I've asked my vet twice now if I should be worried and he said no to just let nature do its thing. It's the first experience with my own personal horse having a baby so I'm a little concerned!! She's been bagged up for a couple weeks, but no wax. Im just worried it's never going to come!! opinions?!? |

Location: CTX | All I know is, all the mares around here went at least 1 week over, and some 2-3 weeks. It seems to be the year for it. So if the vet is not worried I wouldn't be. Just keep an eye on her. Good luck! |

| She's 15-17 days over right now. Expected due date was April 28, I thought she would definitely be in the first weeks in May so I didn't start worrying till the beginning of this week. |

| I actually had a mare go a year and 4 days this year. The baby was fine. This mare did not bag up until the day of delivery either. No worries. |

Location: Kansas | As long as she hasn't been exposed to fescue grass, she is probably fine. We had a maiden mare go over a year last year. When she foaled her colt was small. To me that means that for some reason the foal wasn't receiving nutrition efficiently enough to reach size and maturity in the expected 340 days or so. The foal's maturity triggers labor so when they are done cooking, the mare foals. Fescue toxicity is another story and needs immediate intervention. It can be caused by fescue grass or by fescue hay.
Our three that have been born so far have been right on schedule or within a few days. Good luck! |

Location: Washington. (The DRY side.) | "Over due" really isn't necessarily "over". Since "normal" gestation for a mare is from 320 to 365 days. Some mares carry towards the lower end every year, others the higher end. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | There really isn't such a thing as overdue when it comes to horses :). I know what they say the average is by book terms, but probably 80 percent that I have known are always later then "average". My mare went well over 365 days her first foal in 2009. She's at 353 right now. I wouldn't be surprised if whe foals before the weekend is over, but I could also see her going another two weeks or so. Her due date per the vet was April 23rd to May 8th |

Location: South Central Florida | Last year my maiden mare went 374 days. Almost everyone I spoke to last year went long. My vet kept telling me that 13 months is still normal, and he has had several go that long. Mine was dur 3/2 I think and born 4/8. She was bagged for almost a month....and it would get bigger then seem to shrink some...never did wax. She faked me out a ton. Would go out and she would be sweating and acting weird....then nothing. Woke up one morning to a beautiful colt. No problems. Good Luck |

| She was bred between May 23-25 last year. So she hasn't gone quite a full year yet. |
