| What is the best way to complete an out of state saddle sale to someone you don't know ? Direct deposit to my account first,
Ship my saddle c.o.d with me paying 150.00 shipping costs upfront ?
Should all the costs and risk be on me the seller and hope the buyer upholds their end ? With no skin in the game ?
Please advise |

Location: Texas | We . I have bought and sold many across the USA and the way of choice is Paypal. It protects both buyer and seller. Send an invoice (charge back the fee to the buyer) and send it. When it clears ship it and text a copy of the tracking number. I .have never had a problem. Wire transfer of funds also works.

| PayPal is the only way I would buy a saddle, as there are too many dishonest sellers.
Make sure you insure the saddle for the replacement value |

| Thank you everyone for your replies . I had a person saying they wanted to buy my saddle that I have on BHW , she requested I ship it with me paying cost COD . When I told them no to COD SHE NO LONGER WANTED IT , I guess I was right wanting her to direct deposit funds. |

Or the person got scared as if she did a wire transfer, and you didn't send the saddle, she is SOL, there is no recourse.

Maybe I'm wrong. I would look into that. It might work, if the post office offers the seller some assurance that they will get paid or get the merchandise back. I would be ok with that. And I usually only deal with Paypal. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have sold a few saddles out of state, never had a problem, They mail me a check or money order, cashiers check and once they clear and cash is in my bank account and it takes about a week to make sure all is good then I mail my saddle to them, they pay shipping and I will split the cost of insurance with them. And you can do direct payment to your bank account too... I talk to them on the phone if they will call me to check things out and make sure its all understandable about waiting for the check to clear befor I send the saddle to them. |

 Own It and Move On
Location: The edge of no where | Paypal - we've sold lots of them. Send an invoice, they pay it and we send the tracking information immediately. COD is a pain, what if you're not home to pay for it? |

| I've only sold one once, I sent it UPS COD. That way I know the seller receives it, they have to be present to pay and sign for it, they can open the box while UPS is there to verify, then they pay UPS. UPS sends you a check. I'm hesitant to use PayPal because of its policy for siding with buyers first. I've read too many horror stories (eBay related) where buyer gets the saddle says its damaged wants money back,PayPal sends them there money but they don't send the saddle back or they send a damaged one back that they damaged. |

| I have sold 4 saddles now and used paypal for the transactions. It helps protect the buyer and seller. Once the funds clear i send a text and email to the buyer with the UPS tracking information. I also give my information and phone number to the person buying and constantly stay in communication. Unfortunately, there are a lot of dishonest scammers out there. It makes buying and selling very scary.Thats why i try and cover myself by using paypal. I also discovered the dishonest ones usually want to buy merchandise using some sort of 3rd party shipper or something out of the ordinary. Good Luck |

| Why is it costing you 150.00 to ship it? I have only worked with paypal as others have said, buyer and seller are both safe going this way. |

The most I've ever paid to ship a saddle and that was with $2000 INSURANCE from MN to LA was $78 UPS. Fedex is generally cheaper and USPS is cheaper still. ALWAYS insure the saddle, make sure the box is just the right size for the saddle. I will only deal with PayPal. Make sure they or you DO NOT send as FRIENDS/GIFTED, paypal will NOT back you if something is wrong. You can figure out the fees for paypal to add into the cost.

| Thank you for all your response . I went to a local PAC and mail they quoted a price of $80 to ship and $80to insure , that was not cod I would have to drive 60 miles to fedex office to ship cod or thru post office $119 to ship cod plus $33 to insure . I also felt this was very high . So now I am going to post office to see how much to ship without cod , I'm sure way less ! Thanks again everyone and have a great day !!! |

Location: South Georgia | I have always used paypal. They send the price of the saddle and the shipping expense to my paypal account. I take it to the shipper and pay the shipping. They get the saddle they paid for. I have never had a problem. I have paid about $50 to ship a saddle, in a box I had on hand.
I dont know of anyone who still does COD. Paypal has protection for both parties.

| Use UPS, you make a log in account with them, print your own labels at home and pay them to pick up the box at your house. I shipped a saddle to go on consignment, box was big and heavy, I insured it for $2,000, shipping cost was around less than $80 and the UPS truck came to my house to pick it up. You need to print out 2 copies of the paper work regarding insurance for them to sign but worth every penny. |

Location: TX | I've sold and bought many several saddles on this page and fb, only used PayPal to sell an inexpensive ($500) saddle. The other saddles $1800-$4000 transactions were all done via checks (shipped once cleared) or wire transfer, never had a problem. Usually know mutual friends or have references, it's a shame the world has become a place where there is little trust anymore, but I've found there are way more great people than bad. |
