Location: SE Louisiana | Folks call me 'Huey'.. but... That's not my name...
I've always hated my name... even more now that Muslim looking names draw hate. but...
I'm one of the rare people that have a 'one of a kind' name... I'm the only person in the world that has my name...
My first name is Huson... (Pronounced Hew-Sun) I'm named after my dad's grandfather, John Huson, who was a dairy farmer in Wisconsin .... but............. I was born in Japan.... so my babysitters were Japanese..
Well, in case you don't know, The Japanese excel at politeness. They use honorifics extensively... My dad is named David... so he was called David-San. My brother is named Jay... so they called him Jay-San...
Well... apparently.. Huson-San was too much trouble... so they started calling me Huey-San
........and that's why everybody calls me Huey. |

Location: Aubrey, Texas | My mother named me after a mare she owned. Fitting, I guess, because I've been horse-crazy ever since I can remember. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/robin+hood+price
Interesting story, btw, Komet. You're right, I've never heard that name before, either as a first name or as a surname. Very unique!!!

Location: Texas | I think my mom sat down a smashed a whole bunch of names she liked together lol. My name is Shareasa, always mispelled and always mispronounced. I can tell someone my name and they will turn right around and say "Ok Teresa" or whatever other name they want to call me lol. I just tell people now, if you can get anywhere close I will answer, and I do. |

Location: Central Texas | My parents named me Christine with the full intent of calling me Chris. They did not give me a middle name...I'm still somewhat mad about that. LOL. Fast forward to pre K. The class already had two boys named Chris and a girl named Christine. The pre k teacher decided to call me Chrissy and thats what I learned to write. My parents were not happy about it but it stuck. My parents still refuse to call me Chrissy but that is what the rest of the world knows me as. |

So did my dad, he wanted me to name my kid if it was a boy Bernice Aubrey (Aw-bray) after him... no thanks. I did however give my daughter his middle name, we say it (aw-bree) though. lol That is as good as he is going to get.
It took me a long time before I actually liked my name. I would say about 8th grade I started deciding that I liked not having to go by Ashley M. or little Amber. I was just me lol. My last name was horrid, so me being able to just go by my first name was a big plus! |

Location: North Dakota | My mom just liked the way Kendra sounded. No reason. We don't have any family to give a flying F what we were named or what my kids (if any) would be named. If I had a daughter some day I'd probably name her Sorrell.

Location: Gainesville, TX | Well at first my name was supposed to be Arizona Grace after my great great grandmother. The only nice thing my biological father did for me was make sure I was not named that.
Then my mom's second choice for me was Amanda. Well, when my mom was in labor there was another lady in the same room. She had a baby just a few minutes before me. They named her Amanda. So my mom went with her second choice which was Karen.
She knew I was a twin but thought my sister was a little boy. My sister went without a name for a couple days until she could come up with hers.
So I am Karen Grace and my sister is Robin Ann. |

When I asked my mom why she chose that name, she said because her sister had already named her daugther Lisa................ My middle name is Anne (the most common middle name in the United States LOL) after my grandmother, who as actually named Anna..... |

| My name is Berkeley (I'm a girl) and I have a twin sister named Daron and as far as I know our mom and dad really just liked our names! Our middles names are unique as well and they were taken from each side of the family and twisted! |

| My dad first had a dog named Jenny, then later he had a horse he called Jenny. My mom hated Jenny but she agreed on Jennifer as long as my dad promised to never ever call me Jenny.
So I'm named after a horse and a dog. And if I ever have a daughter, I'm naming her Harleigh after my favorite horse. |
