Location: Montana | How far back would Chicks Beduino have to be on a horse's pedigree for them to be less fragile minded or less hard to get along with? And what would you want to be on the other side to "even" them out? Is Chicks Beduino better on the sire's side or on the dam's side? How do they do if crossed on a lot of TB? Besides fragile minded and hard to get along with, what are other drawbacks of Chicks Beduino bred horses? Do they hold up well for a long time, or do they have soundness problems? Any info appreciated!
Also, any opinion on Snowbound bred horses? Or Sir Rambler bred horses? |

Location: PNW | Personally, I love the Chicks Beduino - so I don't know about the "how far back" bit. I just wanted to come on here in defense of them a little bit. Lol I feel like they get a bad rep.
I have a son of Mr Eye Opener out of a CB/SS mare - I love him to pieces, he drives my husband batty. I think where most people run into problems with them is with a clash of personalities. If you treat my gelding like he is grandma's ranch horse - he tends to act like grandma's ranch horse. If you tiptoe around him (like my husband does) and act like you are just waiting for him to act like an idiot - he will act like an idiot. I wouldn't call him fragile minded, I would describe him as lacking confidence. He is very smart and very cautious - he questions everything, not necessarily spooks and acts like an idiot. As long as whoever is handling/riding him is confident in whatever they are asking him to do, he will do it without a scene. He is talented and athletic, so some of his "crazy" we cater to. He hates farm animals, he has to be held to get his feet done, he doesn't trust children on trampolines, you can only catch him with a piece of bailing twine - if you initially come out with a halter, you will never get near him, etc.
As long as you are a patient, confident, conscientious rider - you would probably do fine with a CB horse. They get frustrated with muddled cues, they take advantage of weak personalities, and if you let them OR expect them to act like twatwaffles - they will.
ETA: Some people hate the MEO horses and think they are nuts too. So I honestly couldn't tell you whether my gelding gets his crazy from exactly.

This is a 3 year old and she is athletic, smart and has a huge motor on her. Stands about 15.1. I have her turned out with the old mares in the pasture because she needed to see the tumbleweeds fly by and experience being a 'horse'. :0) http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/seis+bux

| I totally agree these Chicks Beduino horses are totally untrainable, will tear your barn down, will put you in the hospital and eat the tires off of your trailer ...
This is probably the worst of the CB mares .. even AQHA puts the bad actor clause by her name ... AND .. lordy lordy you should see the sorry foals she produced that no one will buy so they just turn them out to run wild on BLM land. With all this research I can't believe what happened next ... . they placed her in the AQHA HALL OF FAME ...
https://youtu.be/6awod6Bs6-c
Especially this son of hers ... I don't know even one weekend wonder that would ever want one of these in their barn !!
https://youtu.be/4f3aW9LoW54
A stallion that his get only earned $48,000,000 while he is still alive and breeding has to be a major heartbreak for his owners ... they offer him for the piddling stud fee of $35,000 ... trying to get barrel horse owners to breed to him...
He is long in the ribs, swaybacked and only looks tall to short people ...
It is unbelievable that his owners would spend the money to have experts prepare his advertising brochures and hang them in all the prestigious horse magazines ...
What would you do if you owned a booger like this guy??
https://stallionesearch.com/show_stallion.asp?horse=196
Here is my wildcat mare by a famous son of Chicks Beduino ... she is so mean and hateful and has a coon tail with that sparkly rubicano body hair .. We had to give her the barn name of SMILEY... which suits her to a "T". !!!

Location: Montana | Thanks everyone for your replies, except for BARRELHORSEUSA...perhaps (s)he should learn that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. I don't know why that person replies at all. I asked a legitimate question, but didn't ask for a sarcastic and rude answer.
I have heard some scary things, but haven't experienced a Chicks Beduino or any Beduino bred horse yet. And every horse is different, but just like people, they have different traits and personalities.
From what you all have said, Beduino (particularly Chicks Beduino) have personalities a little more like humans than anything...maybe that is why some people have a hard time getting along with them, LOL. :) |

His is all sarcasm. He loves them and even though his comment was a tad wierd, he has a point for the race people. CB have done tremendous on the track. Barrel people just seem to be scared of Beduino especially CB. |

Location: siberia it seems | Just wanted to say that I have a three year old mare by Jumpn, who is by Chicks Beduino. She is out of an Andalay Get mare, who Andalay Get is by Runnaway Winner and out of See Me Do It. Runnaway Winner is by Beduino, so my filly has a good dose of this bloodline. I had heard the stories, but decided to try her anyway. She is the kindest, friendliest, prettiest filly who wants to get along and do whatever i ask of her. I love her to death and would definitely try another. |

My first stallion was a son of Sir Rambler (out of a daughter of Tiny Watch.). LOVED him! He was AAA on the track and the sweetest horse ever. Anyone could handle him even with mares in heat around. |

I LOVE Beduino and would buy a daughter of CB, but I would want to cross it on something I knew wasn't scatter brained, and gentle. Something that doesn't get frazzled too easy. Not because I have had experience with them, but just going on what I have heard. All my mares have Beduino, 2 are through his daughters Miss Eye Opener and one also has Fishers Favorite so double bred Beduino. And 2 are through sons-Runaway Winner and Tolltac. I prefer daughters unless it is the Runaway Winner line. I love those. |

Location: Silver Lake, MN | I have a 4yo gelding by a son of CB and I LOVE HIM. His dam is appendix, he is super good minded, wants to work and has a lot of talent. Plus he's pretty to look at with big white blaze and 3 high socks. He didn't do a dang thing on the track mostly because he is more on the laid back side but is working barrels nice. Wish he was a girl and he would be staying...plus he has a personality!! Will run from the back 40 to great you and just loves to be messed with. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ev+again |

Sounds like my gelding! He's not Beduino bred though, but he is one of the loviest horses I've seen, only a 3 year old though. I'm love him to death, but I'm trying to figure out to go on with him, or go to something more finished, and a horse I was looking at was CB bred. |

Yes it is always a tough decision!!! If mine was a girl he would stay...but my mare falls in love and it is driving me insane. My trainer loves him and she feels like he will finish out to be a 1D horse and is on track for futurities up here for next year. So hopefully things will all work out. Is your 3yo the only horse you have to ride right now? |

Nope, I have my mare...she's my "go to" horse. I can put my 60+ year old mom on her and not worry about them being safe, then I can go to a barrel race and run barrels on her. She's a great little horse, but won't ever be 1D. The 3 y/o gelding I have/had plans of futuritying (if I keep him, those are my plans), and he's broke to ride, but also have plans of breaking into rodeoing eventually. So I'm trying to figure out which priorities to put on hold. :) |

| This is my 2 year old filly. She has Chicks Beduino on both sides of her pedigree. A little further back, but still. She is absolutely so calm and cool. Nothing really phases her and she doesn't spook at much. The worst I can say is that she can be stubborn sometimes, but once she figures it out, you never have the problem again. My 2 year old son can pony around on her bareback or with a saddle and I have no fear of her ever doing anything stupid.
She broke out without any issues also. I wish all horses were this easy to deal with.
