Location: Oklahoma | I find the alfalfa have a higher protein content and that's what I feed. In my experience it puts weight faster on them |

| I was just curious as to what thoughts were. I am currently feeding the Bermuda/Alfalfa cubes along with alfalfa pellets I get from Blue Bonnet as I feed the Blue Bonnet feed also. My older guy is a hard keeper and as we have been getting so much rain they don't go out on grass, plus he has a tendon injury so am having to use my hay which I really didn't want to do. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I do the alfalfa pellets too, mostly to anything that needs weight. Around here it is the old guys that get a mush. Otherwise they have free choice grass hay. I have really loved the alfalfa pellets though ever since I decided to give them a try.
I have never fed the Timothy though, so my opinion is pretty one sided. |

Location: Oklahoma | I am currently feeding blue bonnet intensify omega and alfalfa pellets. My stud has lost a lot of weight this breeding season, and we are trying to put it back on him. I am seeing results and loving the feed. |

Location: Peg-Leg Julia Grimm | Pound for pound alfalfa has more nutrition and more calories. If you have a harder keeper or a horse you need to maximize the food value (like a nursing mare or growing foal) alfalfa is more cost effective. If you have an easy keeper you want to fill up the grass is your better buy because they will be more satisfied on grass because you can feed more volume.
BUT you have to understand alfalfa has more calcium that they need (or should have) so you will want to balance it with a supplement that has additional phosphorous if you feed straight alfalfa. |

Location: midwest mama | I like the Standlee Brand - Tractor Supply has them. They seem to be the cleanest of any that I have fed.
I personally like to feed the separate ones - the alfalfa pellets only and the timothy pellets only, and not the combination ones which have both in them. Although I feed some of each, if I get them in the separate bags, I know exactly how much of each I am feeding. With the combo ones the amount of alfalfa vs. timothy might vary some.
My horse loves them. I do still feed some hay, but he does better with less hay and more pellets.

Location: North Dakota | I give Timothy to horses that are easy keepers and just need something to get their supplements in them. I also give them to my gelding that's high energy and on pen rest for 6 months. I don't want any chance of the alfalfa making him hotter while he's supposed to be quiet. Otherwise I feed alfalfa or alfalfa/Timothy mix pellets. |

What kind of supplement do you recommend? |
