Location: ND | We have horrible mosquitos this year, worse than I can ever remember.. I love Pyranha Fly spray but it only lasts like 10 minutes for the mosquitos.. what would last longer? Thanks! |

| Mosquito Halt is the only thing that I found that works and works all night. It's more expensive but worth it. And you don't have to use a lot |

Not sure I understand...
But, we have terrible mosquitoes this year too (we've had A LOT of rain lately, which we badly needed and are thankful for), and my fly spray doesn't seem to be doing NOTHING! I feel sorry for my horses, and am going to pick up some more fly spray hopefully this weekend. It is going to take a lot this year I think! |

Location: North Dakota | We're getting them BAD too. Both my horses were getting really pi$$y cause the bugs wouldn't leave them alone...meanwhile I was well protected with MY bug spray. I felt bad for them.
ETA my first impression the Ultrashield in the red bottle is pretty good. We'll see if I like it after a few more days but the mosquitos weren't nearly as bad after I sprayed the ponies down.

Location: Heart of Texas | Use Avon Skin so soft with water. 50/50. My poor horse looked like he had chicken pox he had so many bumps but after spraying him with it, gone after two days. Doesn't work as well with flies but definetly with mosquitos. And you can use it on them wet. I ride, hose em down, and spray them down. One bottle of SSS makes two bottles of spray. Buy one at $18 get the second for $0.99. Great deal! And you can get free shipping over $40. Go to www.youravon.com/aubreysmith I swear by it! |

Location: North Dakota | Honestly, I know technically you aren't supposed to, but I spray my guys down with OFF Deep Woods before we ride (and myself!). It still doesn't stop all of the mosquitos but it sure helps!
My guys have not had an allergic reaction to it. |

| Well I did a search for smudge repellent. I take it is like incense? How does that work around horses? |

Location: Cap'n Joan Rotgut.....alberta | This is how i make a smudge.......i pile up wood and then put some old hay on it...get it burning decent and then i pile old wet straw and poop and wet hay on it.....and it smokes..horses and cows love it.......i keep mine in a pen thats not used so nothing can get close to it so they dont singe nose hairs or legs hairs....m |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I've used a smudge pile too. Clean the barn of wet straw and manure, light it and let it smoke. I've got horses that will stand almost on top of it - they love it. I haven't done it yet this year but I've got to start. They are horrible. The 2 horses I'm running this season have very little energy and I'm sure its from fighting the mosquitos. I feel horrible for them. |

Location: ND | I'm not sure I should do a smudge they are out to pasture with cattle.. and I'm afraid the calves would get into trouble with it.. What about garlic? I think I remember something about that helping with them? |

With the wind here in Kansas I would probably burn half the township! Plus my neighbors are crappy. |
