ETA - He's been giving 10% of his winnings to City of Hope for quite a while.

Totally agree, the fact that the Zanyats want to continue to race AP makes it even harder to like them. AP has proven himself, they are making a fortune, sold his breeding rights for 20 million so why take a chance on him running and getting an injury? What is to gain? |

Location: 31 lengths farms | The can get injured just as easily in a paddock, look at Zenyatta's last foal....We risk getting them hurt every time we make a run, heck how many of us have gone home to find one injured themselves in the field "doing nothing"???? Some horses are better off having a job. |

Why not race him? He is not made of glass. Zayats control him thru the end of the year. Why not try him at the Breeders Cup I would. Many of the other Tri-Crown winners went on to compete in other races. Why not try to add 3 year old of the year and the Breeder Cup to his resume. All reports is he came of Belmont just fine. I am sure every one on his team would not race him if he wasn't ready. |

From what I've read, the plan has always been to run him at the Breeder's Cup, if he stayed sound. I'm excited to get to see him run again. Goodness knows they can break a leg just as easily in their paddock or a freak accident. I read an interview that the tracks are very excited they will continue to run him a while in an attempt to get the general public more involved with horse racing. I think it could be very positive for the sport. I'd **** sure go watch him run if I had an opportunity.

Location: Oregon | I think it's great they are continuing to race him. I think it's important a horse lasts more than a year racing before they go on to sire thousands of offspring. Certainly there is no way to tell if a horse is going to stay sound in a year. If more stallions had to prove their long term soundness there would be a lot more sound horses out there. Not that that is probably the reason they are continuing to run him.
And FTR I don't believe a horse can break it's leg as easily in the paddock as on the track or the arena.
