| Do you or would you go to a race that has no visible clock? I went to a race today that has no visible timer and yeh I don't like it. I won't be going again.
How expensive is a timer(clock) for a large production company? It has to be minor for a big production company like this, right?

| I'm guessing you meant the clock is not visible. I'd be willing to bet I know which race/producer you're talking about. |

| My understanding is the timer board ranges from 700-1500.
It really doesn't bother me if the event doesn't have one, times are tough right now, I am happy that there are still added money events |

ETA: We do have electric eye timers, just not hanging clocks/timer boards.

| I guess we are just spoiled here in Texas that we are use to having a clock at big shows. I personally don't like not having one at the big arenas where other producers usally have them. JMPO |

Awww the good old days but you are so right we have gotton spoiled, it would be really weird to go to a big show and not have a clock to watch the runs with. |

| I went to an APHA show and they were timing with a IPhone. They never called out the times just the winners. I guess I have been running where there were timers for at least 40 years. Some places have timers some don't. I don't care, but a hand held IPhone is a little backwards to me. |

| No board doesn't bother me, but I want to see more than 1 person keeping score up there.
I do expect it at the big 200+ entry type shows.
No TIMERS and I wouldn't go back - I get the good old days and the flag, but it's 2015 now and things can just be too close to call |

| Up here in MN there's really not very many arenas that have the timer board most likely due to cost, the ones that do are usually only out at big events or where it's worth it to spend the time/money to put them up lol I guess it's never been a big deal in our area! I do like to see them at big events though not because I don't trust them just because it's cool to see your time running out of the arena and when watching to see others :) |

Location: SE Missouri | Most of our little local shows don't have the timer display but all have the electronic eye timer and have for many many years.. The time is announced after each run. (80-130 in open)
I would think its odd if a bigger show didn't have the display. I figure if they are charging an office/processing fee and keeping 20-25% of the money they should be able to budget for one of those small electronic displays..

Location: CTX | Wow, I guess we are spoiled rotten here in CTX..... most races we go to nowadays have a clock hanging. And that includes the weekday races that have 30-50 runners. And the ones that don't have a clock, do have the electronic timers. Can't imagine having to use an iphone.... at least a flag is visible for everyone to see. |

| Makes you wonder why large rodeo contractors don't have a visible running clock display. This should be required at all WPRA approved barrel races at pro rodeos. |

| A visible clock does not mean that they will get your time correct. At a show with approximately 600 entries, a friend's time was called out wrong. She happened to buy her video Γ nd the time was announced different from the display. It dropped her from 3rd in the 1D to 7th in the 1D and cost her the 1D average. She called them and they said they did not make mistakes. She took a picture of the display and sent it to them. They ended up paying her the difference in the two places and the average money.
The idea here is that it does not make any difference what the display says if they call your time out incorrectly your placeing will change. You better have someone listening for you or buy your video every time. |

| It is best to cover all the bases and have a clock and two people in the booth. Extra measures certainly will not hurt. I have run at local jackpots that had no clock showing but it was a small group not even 100 runners and i would guess they could not afford a displayed clock. No big whoop, but a big show that has nearly 400 runners in one day-ridics! |
