Location: Middle Tennessee | Considering putting one of my horses on the market. I'm struggling to price him, because I've never sold anything like him before. - 15 yrs. old
- APHA registered
- 14.3
- WPRA/Pro rodeo money winner
- Amateur rodeo money winner
- Saddle and buckle winner
- Can head off of him too
- No quirks
- Walks in and out of the alley, not hot
- Suitable for an experienced youth
- Four-wheel drive turning style
- Very solid, same run every time
- No maintenance. We've injected his hocks once, but he'snot needed it again.
- Easy keeper
- Good for the vet, farrier
Where would you price a horse like this?

| APHA hurts him a little bit, unfortunately. Is he colored or solid? I would say 20-25k if he's colored, since he is getting up there in age but he could also probably win APHA events. If he's solid, that really hurts him, probably more in the 15-17k area for a solid gelding since they can't run in APHA barrels unless it is specified solid. Parents will pay a good price for a NICE horse that can be run by a youth, and he sounds like a nice horse.
Of course, just my opinion. A horse is worth what someone will pay. Based on height alone, I would never buy him. I'm way too big for him. haha |

Location: Middle Tennessee | His height is one reason I'm considering selling him. I'm used to running big (16 plus hand) horses and I'm struggling to really get with this one. He's a blue roan overo. Not a lot of roan, mostly white. |

| I would say not below $15,000 and not above $20,000 and have your market be to a younger crowd. Like previous post said parents will pay a lot for a youth horse that is SAFE! |

Not sure why you think being a solid color APHA hurts this horse's price. Obviously, he can not be used for breeding purposes. He is a successful competition horse, since there is no money to be won at APHA shows, most people will not even bother. If there is money to be won at APHA, the ground is ususally bad. Plenty of places to compete with this horse with an adult or youth rider.
Height shouldn't be a problem either, it all depends on body size and length of stride or what another adult rider likes to ride.

Blue Roan overo..........sounds like any little girl would love to put pink or purple all over him. :) He would also look good in blue for a young man too. Don't under price. Your horse sounds like a really nice horse. |

Because I ride a solid paint horse. I know it hurts their value. You can't show them in APHA shows unless it is specified 'solid' (No, not even open classes). So it does limit their breed show ability. Some people do bother with breed shows for the bragging rights.
Like I said, that's my opinion. A horse is worth what someone will pay. I wouldn't give $100 because of his height alone. She asked for opinions, I gave mine.
