| PRP, sweat with Runners Relief at night, alternate ice and magnets during the day. He was out a year, healed and back running barrels. |

Typically, the number of letters is the number of months to recoup. Do NOT push the recoup process. Done correctly, you horse can be sound again.

| Injected with adequan. We had this done at Rood and Riddle, not many vets do this. Gave time off and started back slow per vet instructions on when and how much.
eta: it greatly depends on the type of injury...are we talking sore, strained, tears?

| My mare was turned out for 16 months after her suspensory. Back running, but has never clocked the same and occasional swelling. |

Location: Pelham, TN | Definitely depends on how bad the injury is and how hard the horse works. Ours has been off a year still lame and honestly he is now just turned out in a field with a big hill hoping Mother Nature will help with the healing. He is big and turns so hard we are just hoping one day he can run again. |

Please tell us more! Can you show us pics of the suspensory injury? Was it U/S guided or blind stick to the area to place the adequan? |

| It is a tear this happen last fall vet had a hard time finding his lameness. Was left all winter off got injections in hocks, stifle and then the ligament, gave him another month off and just trail ride him now. The vet said it was likely that if I run him he will tear it again. He is such a good boy I just do not need a lame horse sitting in my pasture. |

My horse had a 40% tear high on right rear. He has been back running for 4 years. |

Location: Texas | I had one strain a suspensory. she was almost non weight bearing lame for months. We did PRP, and I sweat that leg for 8 weeks with runners relief, and then would alternate with sore no more poultice when I would give the runners relief a break. I followed the rehab that they gave me and 5 months later she was not limping anymore. That happened in fall of 2011 and I ran her 2012.. did OK but then she had other problems. Gave her 2013 off to have a baby and fall of 2014-now she has been running awesome again. If I have another injury, I will do stem cells.
We have another mare who came with a history of a suspensory injury. I have no idea what they did for her, and it doesn't bother her now. |

| My horse fail at a rodeo and tore her suspensory ligiment. My vet said the gold standard would be stem cell treatment. That it would heal in the hole with tissue more like the actual ligiment. He also stated that due to the poor blood supply of ligiments the other treatments would probably not work as well in the long run. I did go with the stem cell and he has been amazed at how well and fast it is healing. I am starting to get her legged back up and will hopefully be competing on her again in a couple of months. |

Location: Friendswood, Texas | We opted for the PRP and time off. It happened in May a few years ago so we just gave her the rest of the year off. We brought her back slowly and never looked back. Two years later and she clocked her fastest time at local barrel race last night. It's like she was never injured. Huge credits to Dr. Honnas and his staff. |

Location: where the wind blows and blows and blows | We had one with a small suspensory tear confirmed by ultrasound. Was only slightly lame but had heat and swelling. Treated the heat and swelling with cold hosing and swelling with bute, it didn't last long. Then kept him in a small pen by himself for 6 months. started legging him up slowly had an unfortunate incident with an incompetant farrier and had him showing symptoms again, re ultrasounded and found there was some aggravation around the previous tear. switched to a fabulous farrier who saw the problem right away, turned him out for a year, re ultrasounded and legged him up and 4 months back in barrel training and he is running hard and looking great with no signs of weakness. He is in iconoclast boots and we keep his feet done every 6-7 weeks. He is running even harder than before his injury so I'd say that is a complete recovery  |

Location: Piedmont, OK | I had one tear a suspensory - did microcurrency using a "best vet" 3 times a week and feed lots of cissus quadrangularis to help him heal quicker
and he was back to running barrels in 8 months |
