So at the same dose of pentosan that you would get by using the plain it's right at $15/dose also giving you 18mg HA and around 240mg glucosamine. This says to give IV.
I'm thinking about doing 4-6 injections of it to see if it helps. I would like to only have to do adequan once a year. I don't like the idea of one shot a month when research doesn't prove it lasts more than a week.
Has anyone tried it? Am I way off base? Lol.
Thanks |

Location: Oregon | I did this last time I did a loading dose because they were sold out of the Pentosan Gold. I liked my results. I gave the same dose 6ml a shot for 5 weeks. I will give a shot every once in awhile if I have a big weekend coming up. |

Were your results different from the gold? |

Location: TN | How does pentosan help if you're already doing joint injections every 6 months? I've never used it but it seems interesting. |

| I will tell you this, I just had my horse's RF coffin joint done yesterday. It used to need injecting every 6 mos. I was able to go ONE YEAR this time and the fluid that came out of the joint was clean and thick. Very high quality. THe only thing I changed over the last year was osphos and Pentosan and pentosan gold. My vet was impressed! |

I have used the Pentosan and the Pentosan Gold and got fairly quick results, as in felt less stiff and freeing moving in a day or so. I haven't used the platinum yet. |

I don't feel like my results were much different from the Gold if they were at all. Its helped me to prolong hocks to once a year. |

If you don't mind me asking what you pay for your Polyglycan and how often you give it? |

| How often are you giving the pentosan - just doing the loading dose once per year or giving it more often throughout the year? |

I give a 4 shot series 7 days apart every 6 months and then a booster shot if if I have a big weekend of races coming up. |

It goes Pentosan, Pentosan Gold and Pentosan Platinum, right?
The Pentosan Gold has Sodium Pentosan 250 mg/mL, Glucosamine 150mg/mL.
The Pentosan Platinum has Pentosan 183mg/ml, Glucosamine 83mg/ml, Hyalronic Acid 3mg/ml.
So the Platinum has less Pentosan & Glucosamine per ml, but also has the HA.
I would think which one was best would depend on your horse.
I did read somewhere that the glucosamine was a nice complement to the pentosan.

Location: Sapulpa, OK | The Gold & Platinum are both amazing. They have prolonged my injections from every 3-4 months to every 9-10 months. My horses feel great & are running 1/2D. One of them is 22 years old this year & running with some of the best horses in OK. I give the loading dose & then if I'm running more than once that week I give it, and skip the weeks I'm not running much, but if I'm hauling a lot I will give it weekly. Definitely makes a difference for my horses! |

It's $83 for 10cc vial or you can get 6 vials for slightly less per vial. I give 5cc at a time. I don't give it all the time. Last year at the NBHA World show she ran 1st go round last hole in the 2D (too fast to qualify in 3D) in the first go. The vet there was giving shots for $30 a shot. We knew she had problems with the concrete so I figured we would give it a try. The 2nd go she qualified in the 1D, which is more like her. My daughter thought it lasted about 3 weeks, but it seems to work almost immediately so I give the shot...then if she runs about 3 weeks, if she has another show we give again. If not, we don't until a few days before the next show. I kept thinking it was just like Adequan, and didn't really pay much attention to it until the vet up there suggested it. I'm mostly curious about the Pentosan and what the difference is. I know it is less expensive but I have heard it's not great for bleeders because it is a thinner? I always trying to save money but keep the horse comfortable!

Location: Phoenix | If I were to start giving it I don't know if I would do the 2x every 6 months or loading and monthly. I only have a glorified trail horse but I do like to ride and exercise him....maybe just the 2x a year method?

I was paying $90 per 2 doses of poly, which I gave once a month. I was fixing to start buying it from horeprerace (cheaper), when my horse died. It worked wonderfully, prolonged her hock injection to about every 12-14 months |

| I tried it earlier this year and my horse felt like he was jacked up on mountain dew. I had to give him some time off, but just got a couple more in the mail the other day so I am starting him on it again.
If you want a HUGE DEAL on the regular Pentosan, if you order 12+ from HorsePreRace you can get them for $5.95 a dose. (So 12 x 5.95 = $71.40)
