| I'm always interested to know how people decide how many boots to run on their horses? Do you have some horses that run differently?

| I always run in Front and hind boots and also bells on the front and back, it sounds weird but my horse hits herself in the back sometimes so it's easier to keep her protected all around :) |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Bells, leather split font and leather splint/skid combo backs on my gelding who interfers. Bells and SMB style fronts and backs on the mares, the big mare will not fire or run in the leather style ones. She hates them and it took me forever to find a pair of X-lG for her!!!! So they sit and collect dust because apparently no one else runs a part draft horse...kidding but she might as well be. |

Location: Kansas | I have 3 who run in polos all the way around and 2 of them will tolerate boots if I'm pressed for time but I always have to polo wrap Streak's back legs as he hates boots. My 4th horse, Joker, runs in polos on the front & boots on the back because he'll burn through a pair of polos in about 2 runs. Everything wears bell boots even if I'm just exercising them at home. |

Yep, mine go on a drag or two before our run depending on the weather. |

My mare requires minimum XL/XXL bell boots 24/7 due to her special shoes. Trust me, I feel your pain on the size thing. I have learned to like Black bells. |

Location: North Dakota | I ALWAYS ride, lunge, etc in bell boots. Always. For running, any of my horses will wear boots on all 4. The more protection from bumps and scrapes, the better. |

| I have done polos, and I'm sure it's my own fault for not doing them properly, but I can't run in them. I feel they are too loose and I'm petrified that they'll come undone and do more harm than good. I started using boots before I ever learned how to wrap polos, so it's probably my own fault for just being more comfortable with boots. I'm making it my mission to better learn how to wrap polos.
Everything wears bell boots when I ride, and if they're babies or doing pattern work they'll get boots all the way around during weekly workouts.
Someone once told me when I was young that if you don't put boots on the back and your horse goes to sit for a turn and burns their ankles in the dirt, they may stop sitting so hard. I just remember that every time I want to make a run, and true or not, I don't want to take the chance. |

Location: Alberta, Canada | Fronts and bells no matter what and polos on back depending on ground conditions. I have one mare that doesn't get anything on the back regardless because she will clock a full second slower with back wraps. Took me forever to figure that out lol. |
