| I normally do not have any but after 10 inches of rain last week you can not go out in the evenings. My poor horses, I have been keeping them up at night to keep them away from them but now they are getting eaten alive in the barn :(. |

| I know. I find that the Mosquito Halt works pretty good. I spray that on mine at night then put something different on during the day. I have to be careful though and not get too much on the back as it just gets too hot for them. Unfortunately Tractor Supply does not carry the Mosquito Halt so I have to order it. |

Location: Where I am happiest | Mosquito's are very weak flyers. A good fan will keep them out of your barn. Fans also work well on the patio if your wanting to sit out. You can spray your horses with OFF and that works better then any other spray's from the farm store for mosquito's. |

| What is working for us is lighting some hay on fire, putting manure over it and letting it smoke. We have skeeters, horse flies and gnats. The poor horses are miserable unless we smoke them out. One mare would freak out when we first started it but now stands in the middle of the smoke for relief. |

Location: NE Texas | It IS safe to use OFF on your horses? I have been spraying the heck out of mine with fly spray, Pyrahna in the blue bottle, to be specific, but I think it's making my horses cough. Is there any natural way to keep insects away from the ponies? Wonder if the mouthwash would blister a horse if you used the above mentioned on them? I have a horse with some respiratory issues and anything "insecticide" seems to aggravate him. |

| I use Off on them, but only when the mosquitos are bad. I am not sure how safe it is, but I figure if I only use it the 2-3 days that the mosquitoes are at their worst, it is better for them than running through the brush willy nilly, lol. |

Location: mi | I also use OFF on mine. I figure if its safe to be sprayed on my bare skin it should be safe to be sprayed on an animal. Fans on while in stalls. |

Location: Heart of Texas | OFF works great but if you're looking for something a lot less harsh try AVON. Mix the Skin So Soft 50/50 with water and spray. It smells nice and works really great. Fans help as well. As someone mentioned they aren't strong flyers. Dump any standing water. And try to keep your grass as short as possible. The whole reason I started in AVON is so I could get SSS. Go to my website or email me and I can get you hooked up. I think you're close to me? I might be mistaken. I live in La Vernia. But it's www.youravon.com/aubreysmith or [email protected]. Let me know if I can hlep! |

I sprayed my gelding with OFF 2 days and he's coughed when I rode him 2 now. :( I did just read on facebook that Peppermint or Aloe works well to keep them away. I'm going to try that. |

No mosguitos yet and I'm really surprised too, now we do have them but just not like I thought we would by now, I do try to keep everything mowed out here and the water for the horses changed out alot so maybe that has something to do with not having lots of mosquitos. Still gots my snakes tho and that's another reason for all the mowing, lol.. |

| I have 100 acres and the back part catches the overflow from the creek when we have torrential rains like we just got. I just came back from checking it out and still have standing water on about 20 acres :(. It will have to dry for the mosquitos to go away. |
