when I insisted on a mud room in the new house we are building.  The other day my rubber boots had frogs in them, today I found this little gem hiding under them, then while mowing I stirred up this guy.  No more boots left outside for me

Oh my goodness! I would've peed my pants. I HATE snakes!

We had a baby copperhead IN the house two yrs ago when we first moved in. The people who lived here before us left the land a complete overgrown mess...so we saw literally dozens of snakes that summer. Caught several other babies in mouse traps in the basement. It was gross. I told my husband I wanted to move...lol!

I have to say thats one perk of living on an island that has no poisonous anything lol. I leave shoes outside all the time and besides the occasional caterpillar they are empty. I would have freaked out!!

Definitely a coral snake but the good part ist that it has to gnaw on you rather than just bite you

I read they have very small mouths and it is difficult for them to bite you, which explains why none of the cats or dog were bit- they were all trying to get a piece of it.   This one still got the death sentence, my grandbaby is moving in in a few weeks, no poisious snakes allowed.  I don't bother the non venemous snakes.

Long island, ny. Think its too over populated for most wildlife. We have some wildlife but nothing like mainland lol.

You need to get some chickens, they are really hard on them snakes, I have 4 hens that run around here and last year they killed 3 young snakes, 2 baby copper heads and one baby rattlesnake, now I dont know about grown snakes but on the little ones they go to town on.

OMG I live in n. Tx do I need to worry about coral snakes!?! We have copperheads and supposedly rattlers but never seen one.
I kill ALL snakes and do not try to find out if they are poisonous or not. I know snakes have their place in the world but I prefer it not to be my place!! Icky!

I was told today that if you put rock salt out it will deter them as it burns their bellies. And also pigs help but I didn't get the answer to that as she had to help someone else.
