Location: Montana | Added 8-22-15: Soooo, I think because ASOF went up so much this year, I'm going to step back and go with something a little more affordable for a stud choice for my mare. My personal 2 choices are...drum roll please Firewater Finale http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/firewater+finale Aint Seen Nothin Yet http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/aint+seen+nothin+yet
Big question, which of the 2 would cross best on my mare to get a barrel prospect? I'm hoping to get a blond filly, but that's part of the fun of the gamble. :) I think I'm finally going to be in a position to breed mare in 2016. This year didn't work out, but oh well. I think she would be a good cross on ASOF, from what I've heard, but am not sure. I have also heard his fees going up in 2016, and I heard it from the James Ranch, although I don't know what to. So I wanted to see what you guys thought would be a good cross on her.
She's about 14.2 hh (depending on if she has shoes on or not, LOL) fairly short backed, nice, nice disposition (one of those horses you can stick anyone on and not worry about them getting hurt), but a little head strong and stubborn, but we get along good. Here's her pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/reds+foxxe+lady+bug I'll attach a pretty good side photo so you can see how she is built. She is slightly cowhocked on the back, but has yet to cause any issues. She's not fast fast, but she can really get down and boogie around the barrels...she turns SOOO tight.
Personally would prefer to cross her on something more speed bred, but with a good attitude/easy to work with. I'd like to budget around $3000 stud fee and shipping, plus vet fees, but less is always welcome. Color's a plus, but not a must, and I'm not worried about size as...if I had another horse Pebbles' size (that's my mare) but could run I'd be happy. Thanks in advance!
ETA: If it is a colt, it will likely be sold, but if a filly it will be a keeper.

Location: Where I am happiest | Take a good look at Fulton's junior stallion A Dash Ta Streak. We bred to him this year rather then ASOF. He has a great pedigree, his Dam is and was a heck of a mare, he's got the color, and he is better balanced and ( straight from the horses mouth) better minded then his sire, ASOF. |

I like your idea, thank you! I looked him up and it says frozen semen only...does that have the same motility or is a special process required? Not as familiar with that.

It depends on if he's at James ranch or not at the time. We were prepared for frozen, but they said we could have cooled when we shipped so did that. He shipped really well and it only took one shipment and we were confirmed in foal. |

Good to know! Thank you...it would probably be through the James Ranch as that is where I understand they want that type of inquiry directed to. |

| If using frozen, make double darn sure your vet is familiar with deep horn insemination

Location: Texas | we are hoping to breed out Jet of Honor daughter to ASOF next year. I am going to try and breed one of my mares next year that I run but not sure how I am going to do that.. but I really like Corona Caliente and if I can afford the ET will try to ET Lucy to him.
Then I have my Stoli mare who I am not sure what to do with next year. She's in foal to slick by design for a 2016 baby. She has had a first down french and a firewater ta fame so far. |

Location: Montana | Teehaha: Tres My Fame is right in my backyard! Maybe he'll go on the list. :)
As far as the frozen goes, I'm just not familiar with the process. We have a local vet with a very good recommendation for AI that I plan on using.
I'm really looking for ideas as my idea was ASOF, but there are SOOO many studs out there, and good ones, I can't possibly know them all. |

I knew he must be close to you. If you go and check him out would appreciate your feedback. I just love that pedigree

I knew Jennifer has El Scorcho, but didn't know if she shipped or not. I'll ask her. :) Slim Fittin Jeans would be nice too. :) |

Location: Missouri | I got a deal that I couldn't pass up on this guy: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/sizzlin+red+corona (Fishers Dash x Corona Wild, full sister to Corona Chick -- dam of Corona Cash and Corona Cartel.) I didn't really know what I was doing when I agreed to the breeding, but I couldn't be more excited about the foal now! He's has three track records in Canada and his offspring are doing well on the track, too. I saw him in person and liked him more than his photo. He seemed kind and well-mannered. He's in Oklahoma now.
Oooh!!! And my yearling by Mr Jess Charger (who used to be in MT, but now in Canada) is a dream!!! Love her! Sweet personality and plenty of run... but, she's not very big.
Just some thoughts... Good luck in your search!!! |

| I just requested a contract for streakin ta fame for 2016. He might push your budget a tad if you didn't ceatch first cycle but he's so nice. And the candid pictures i have seen are nicer than his adds. He will be the first stud im breeding to that I have not seen and im so confident and excited about my decision!
I will say, the more you ask about stallions, and the more sudgestions you get and the more you look at the list will only grow. There are a TON of nice stallions. And i like to book early, you sometmes get a bit of a discount or get this years price before it goes up for next year.
Another one thats really nice and has a great mind (asside from all the ones mentoned already) is The Card shark 229 he's a AAA son of special leader out of a streakin six daughter. They dont ship on him and im not sure where you are but he's a nice boy.
Edit to add- he's in Montana so you might be close to him :-)

| Just looking at her conformation, ASOF would not be my pick. In no way am I saying your mare has poor conformation, I just don't think he would be the ideal cross on her...
I would lean more towards something like Firewater Ta Fame (he's gorgeous and his get have been winning quite a bit) or possibly Judge Cash (depending on your budget) or a Tres Seis son. |

| What about Aint Seen Nothing Yet. We bred a mare to him this year and very excited to see what we get next year. He is stunning!
We took our mare to La Salle Vet Clinic in Kalispell, MT. Semen was shipped from Wyoming.
