Location: East Texas | I have a couple that the sun really seems to bother (just on their face). I came home after being gone for a week and a half and his nose looked bad. What is the best products for treating and preventing sunburn? |

Location: the end of the rainbow | If they are already burned get a diaper rash ointment with zinc oxide in it. That will heal it up and keep the sun off plus it is semi-waterproof. |

Location: Montana | Good post, my gelding's nose sun burns, and he doesn't like the sun block I put on him (I think its the smell) even though it is made for horses. I keep using it, but haven't had a horse that has had sun burn before. |

Location: Missouri | Have you ever heard of Rodan + Fields products? They have an awesome skincare line for sensitive skin called Soothe. I've used Step 2 of the regimen, the sensitive skin treatment, multiple times to draw out sunburn on myself. Works every time within 12 hrs or less. And treat diaper rash on my baby. It's awesome stuff. We call it 'liquid gold' bc of it's gold tint.
I would assume it's safe to use on a horses nose but I'd be happy to send you an ingredients list if you'd like.
Yes, I sell it but not trying to make a sale, I do genuinely love the product! So if you know someone personally that sells the stuff also, you should ask her if she thinks it would work in this situation as it's wonderful! |

Location: The edge of no where | Zinc Oxide - it's cheap and will last for a few days out in the pasture without reapplying. |

Location: South Central Florida | I had a problem with my paint because I bought the cheapest sun screen I could find...big bottle at Wal-mart. Turns out he was alergic to the PABA. The vet told me lots of horses are alergic to it. It actually burned him worse than the sun and caused blisters and a horrible rash. I felt terrible.
Every heard of feeding Paprika? I guess it naturally causes the body to product more melnin (what ever makes skin darker to protect its self). We did it for a few years, and it seemed to help, but it was probably in my brain, not reality.
He's 26 now, and he still burns pretty bad but I treat it. I'm going to get some zinc and see if he will tolerate that.
I love the Butt Paste, for everything...never thought about putting it on his face :)

My SIL has a kid in diapers so we raided her cabinet and found something with zinc oxide in it.... It did the trick. They looked 100% better the next day. |
