Location: Eastern OH but my heart is in WV | In all seriousness when is all this "might offend someone" going to STOP????? Now TV Land is pulling the Dukes of Hazzard from their programming because of the General Lee. You know its roof might offend someone. Well TV Land you have officially offended me! Grew-up on the Dukes, carried my lunchbox faithfully everyday to elementary school with my P & J sandwich inside and I was so COOL because I had a rock'n lunchbox. I crushed on Bow and Luke for years and my brother drooled over Daisy. My kids now watch the show.
NEVER, EVER, EVER though did I EVER think "racism" as they slid in and out of the mighty General....
This is so out of hand....

| I'm so glad you posted this! The whole ordeal with the Confederate flag is some bull too... People should really crack a book before calling racism on everything. My moderately rebellious side wants to go out and buy some Confederate flag spur straps or something as a conversation starter of sorts, lol |

I was waiting for this to happen... I KNEW it was coming!!! Next we will see 'All In The Family' get pulled.... But I'll tell you what. When that happens they better pull 'The Jeffersons' too because that's just as racist....
Oh.. How many of our presidents have been slave owners? Guess we'll have to rewrite our history....

Location: Opelousas, LA | What is really stupid is that was a pretty decent show. My parents didn't let us watch just any show on TV, Dynasty and Dallas got turned off because they were not suitable for kids to watch according to my parents. We did get to watch Dukes of Hazzard, Little House on the Prairie and a few others. Compared to the crap on TV now, Dukes of Hazzard is a family friendly show, this PC BS is getting way out of hand, some people need to get a life. |

Location: wherever my daughter's running | Sad, sad, sad. I said in another post I am fine with taking down the flag and putting it on a museum and I live in SC. However all the doing away completely with anything with the confederate flag is a knee jerk reaction. I am still reeling from its removal from Ft. Sumter. The KKK from NC will be in Columbia, SC in a couple of weeks. The pot is boiling and all of these knee jerk reactions just may cause it to boil over.

Location: Eastern OH but my heart is in WV | While we are at it maybe some other groups should be offended by the show too:
Cops: because the cops on Dukes were always messing- up and wrecking their cars.
Women: Daisy was made to wear those "sexiest" short- shorts and used her sex appeal to get others out of trouble
Big People: Boss Hog and Lou-Lou were always eating on the show
Dogs: because the basset hound just looked "doppy" all the time and often just laid around
Older people: because uncle Jessie was always wearing bib-overalls
This is how stupid it has all become.... |

Location: Texas | I so agree with you...back in the day when Dukes of Hazard was on TV no one cried "racism" it was just entertainment and good at that...people need to get a life and move on from this...this is petty stuff...let's concentrate on finding homes for the homeless, food for those who have little or none and are hungry and taking care of our war veterans...if people put as much effort into helping this country instead of these kind of things imagine what kind of country we would have |

Typical cops...

You're just jealous of her cute butt
Big People: Boss Hog and Lou-Lou were always eating on the show
Call it what it is.... Fat people.... You have to eat a lot to STAY fat... (At least I do)
Dogs: because the basset hound just looked "doppy" all the time and often just laid around
This is just mean.....
Older people: because uncle Jessie was always wearing bib-overalls
Us old farts are not as limber as we used to be. It's a lot easier to get undressed.

Yept I bet the Dukes wont be the only show that gets pulled. I love the Jeffersons, George is so darn cocky, and I agree with you this is a very racist show but so darn funny, you know I never did look at it as a racist show at all just loved the laughs and humor that went with it. So sad what is happening to our beautiful United States. |

Location: Kansas | So who knew the General Lee would fall victim to political correctness. God forbid they show any ole reruns of North and South. Pretty sure there are some Confederate flags in there.
"Straightenin' the curves, flattenin' the hills, someday a divisive president might get them, and sure enough,,,,,,,,wasn't the plan to fundamentally change America? |

Location: Midwest | That show was NEVER racist. From what I remember (which is from many years ago), it promoted tolerance and kindness.
I'm not from the South, but I know the flag is not about racism for most Southerners. I had a rebel flag sticker on my car when I was a teenager because I thought it was cool... it had nothing to do with racism!
We can all sit back and watch as they rewrite history.... |

How is it that the folks that say we should be tolerant and sensitive to those who might be offended by the Southern Cross...and that we should support the right for all sexes to marry etc...How is it that THEY can turn right around and get away with offending and restricting the rights of other folks? It should be freedom and tolerance for ALL opinions and points of view. They are replacing one type of intolerance with another. Hypocrites!!
I'm gonna miss those boys. |

| I am a Southerner. I have never thought of the Rebel flag as racist. I have only seen it as representing our Southern culture. I do not fly a rebel flag in my yard because I do realize that there were ill intented groups along the way that used it for the wrong reason and I do not want to give the wrong idea. I believe though, if I wanted to fly one tomorrow I should have that right as an American! The problem I have with this is being told I CANT. This is the United States for crying out loud. People can be proud to be lots of other things in this country..as long as it is "politically correct". I never thought I would see a day "The Dukes of Hazzard" would be taken off the air because of the flag painted on the General Lee. Its overkill for sure! |

YEP! I am not really into anything rebel flag themed, but you tell me I CANT in a free country??? I just may have to add a little southern flair! |

I agree with your post - except that history is not being rewritten - it is being erased. What I fully expect to happne in my state next week is that the flag will come down from the State House grounds. Which museum it will be placed in - I'm not sure - but it is being relocated not done away with - there is a difference. People will still be able to view this flag - just not on the grounds of the State House. Those removing the flag from Ft. Sumter are erasing history along with all the other knee jerkers. |
