Location: Peach State		Long story short my 18yr gelding had bled out twice(very little) and not consistantly. Had him scoped and a lung wash to test for infection. No infection so no antibiotics needed just rest. Hes been off for 6weeks and for the last two weeks I've worked him up from walking, trotting (a lot) and lightly loping.
I would like to avoid long term use of Lasix but is it best to start back using lasix then cut back with help of supplements? Right now he's just on oxymax.
Was thinking about trying lung aid plus maybe a prerace paste?
Any suggestions?

Oh and its summertime in the southeast where it's in the upper 90s daily with extreme humidity. All of the shows around here in the summer are night show though and I only ride before sunrise or late evening.

Location: God's country...aka TEXAS		Oxymax is great and it does give some lung support. I would also start him on the Oxygen Bleeder Stop. Great product!! Use Lasix for a while until the bleeder stop builds up in his system, then you can start backing off the lasix. I have used it with great success on several horses. Also, Oxygen recommends using the Oxygen2X in conjunction with the bleeder stop. It is twice the oxygen formula and will help build up lung capacity. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Location: Iowa		I agree with the other poster above...Oxygen makes great Bleeder supplements. My horse got off Lasix while using the supplements and she was a bad bleeder.  Also, with the horses age, you might have to make sacrifices...when the conditions are right (large, deep arena and super hot and humid air) it may be best to leave the horse at home or if you really want to run that is when I would give lasix as a backup.
