| He went trail riding with me this weekend-SO thankful!
But I told him when wearing my helmet, that I felt dorky.
He said, why would you feel dorky? Do you think NASCAR drivers feel dorky? He said no, they are being protected.
Good thought for those that worry about how they look wearing a helmet and letting that be the only reason they are not wearing one. This is not a helmet debate-only made to encourage and look at it from a different perspective!
Football players, baseball players, NASCAR drivers.. and the list goes on. They all wear them (yes, required) but they probably aren't overly concerned with looking like the odd man out (like I do)!

I have noticed this year there are alot more helmet wearers at barrel races then in years past. Up until this year I was almost always the the only adult rider wearing one.

Location: NC | I honestly don't care how I look wearing one. I think I look awesome. Lol Keeps the sun off my face without worrying about a hat or sunglasses. And I honestly love the look of my purple Tipperary. I put some decals on mine for my mom. Along with my mantra, 'Never Give Up'
It covers up my horrible sweaty frizzy messy hair in the summer. I love it. I wear it every single ride. I LOVE sticking out!!! I wish my helmet was louder
I also noticed that a good bit of the 300 open entries at my State finals this year had helmets on. 2/5 of my drag alone were in helmets. So they are definitely becoming more popular.

That is AWESOME. I love how little girls (and boys) typically have not a care in the world of what others think..
I don't wear a helmet BUT I don't even think about it when I see someone wearing one. It's not a rarity anymore. My dad used to wear one in the late 60's early 70's. Tony Pitcock has for years, it's just not THAT uncommon. A couple of the girls we have helped through the years wear theirs all the time.
I hope to be more like those kids and think whatever I'm wearing makes me look FAST!   |

I grew up riding jumpers so have no issue with it. Now that I have a very athletic 3 year old colt I wear it all the time. I want to give some of mine a hot-rod paint job like Fallon taylor does and eventually sell them on my line of rodeo apparel and custom equine accessories. |

| Also now that I have a son and would like him to wear one I have to wear mine. Same thing for my stepdaughter who (right now) wants to be my mini me. The hard part is what to say to the kids when I say we have to be safe and my team roper hubby is not (and will not) wearing one. LOL |

I wear one with every young horse I get back...and then once I get to my comfort zone I stop and just wear a ball cap. I wear one that the eventers wear. Low profile and very comfortable. Don't even realize I have it on. I can't give a good reason why I don't wear it all the time. I just don't. I should and I am going to take my boys to get fitted for them as well. I think I will be better about wearing one when we all 3 have one on. I have no negative thoughts when I see someone else-adult or child, wearing one. Good for those that do |

I could have written your post. I use my old jumper helmet with the young ones. I don't think my brain can handle concussion #4....
Just bought my son one in his favorite color so he likes it....I think it's great that they seem to be more popular for the youth these days. |
