livexlovexrodeo - 2015-07-28 12:22 PM Two of mine are going to the vet today to get their teeth done. One is my 17 year old gelding that I've had since he was 2. This summer he did not shed like he usually does. His hair isn't long like a winter coat, but it's longer than it usually is, it's not super short and slick like everyone else. I wormed him once in like March with ivermectin and then at beginning of June I did SafeGuard to see if that helped. I'm going to have a fecal count and blood work done today. He has dapples and his coat is shiny, it's not dull. He's a good weight, maybe a little chubby because he doesn't get ridden. Basically the only thing wrong with him is the longer-ish hair. I'm just not sure what questions I should ask the vet. It doesn't seem like it would be Cushing's because its definitely not that long, but it's long enough that if he trots around in this warm weather he gets sweaty faster. So the only thing I know of that can cause that is worms or Cushings. Is there any other kind of imbalance that would make them not shed correctly? Just curious in case I need to request a specific blood panel.
