We are pretty sure our mares nasty heat cycles are causing her ulcers so we are exploring the options.
I did some reading a and it talked about 1 ML per 110 pounds for 15 days and...
So after the 15 days then what?
Whats the monthly cost?
Thanks for any info |

| When using to suppress heat or to maintain a pregnancy, I give 10cc daily. I just buy the big jug. There is now a generic version that is a little less expensive. I've used both and haven't noticed a difference. |

When I gave it in the feed, as soon as you stopped the mare came in heat.
I gave injections to my broodmare because she ate with her baby. I gave it to her once a week for 22 weeks and I think I figured the cost for all was about $600. Vet said the cost was about the same as the oral. |

| Personally, I would start with a daily ulcer preventative like UGard. I would also give crushed raspberry leaves to lighten the heat cycles. I bought my crushed raspberry leaves from more than alive.com. sometimes they did not have them and I would order from bulkherbstore.com. BOTH of these are cheap and well worth a try. Feed a fistful . I have even fed the raspberry leaves to a high anxiety gelding with success. |

| We might give it another shot, but this is the 4th or 5th time treating them this year and its getting old for us and im sure the horse too.
She has been on raspberry leaves and probios for months now and since this last bout with ulcers we started daily doses of gastroshield and aloe juice. |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | I know this sounds crazy but try putting something copper in her water. We usually just throw in some pennies or tie some copper wire so they can't a hold of it at the bottom. It is supposed to help with their heat cycles. We moved 6 months ago and I have not put any in our mares water and have noticed her coming into heat harder than she use to. |

 Own It and Move On
Location: The edge of no where | We give a shot once a week.... it is expensive, but my mare is a WITCH when she's in heat. She gets really sore. |

| Also vera juice does very little. HorseΓ can get ulcers in a matter of minutes. I have had very good results with UGard. Neighlox is also a good product. A calming product before you run might help.
Not all products or supplements work on every horse. Also, I have found that a round of renitidine helped my horse. I got mine at Sam's. A couple of bottles for about $10. |

| I started my mare on it, I'm using the oral kind and just top dressing her feed with it. I give 7cc, not quite a full dose but my intent was just to lessen the frequency/duration of her heat cycles and the severity of them, so far working great. Cost from the vet is $230 for a 1000 ml bottle, which is lasting me longer than a month, maybe 2+ months? Just started 1 July so not sure how long it will last for sure. My equine dentist that is also a vet said that price is at cost.

Location: North Dakota | A bottle of Regu-Mate at 10ml a day should last you 100 days so that is roughly $70 a month. I started my mare on it at the beginning of June and I will never run her without it ever again! She is a completely different, happy, and consistent horse! I am starting month 3 with it and have plenty left in my bottle to get me thru at least one more full month. I give her 10mls a day. |

Common Sense and then some
Location: So. California | Have you had a complete reproductive exam? Ultrasound, culture, etc? Regumate is a pain to feed daily, but it does work. |

| I started a mare on regumate a month ago. Never will I go without it. She's super easy to administer orally. We recently have been putting it in her feed just for ease of use.
I was really nervous when we started using it, but now it doesn't bother me as bad. I'm careful and always wear gloves. It worked wonders!!! |

| Regumate is a great product but it is scary for females to handle it safely. Make sure your gloves are heavy duty and not just latex. Regumate will penetrate through latex. |

A friend of ours mentioned this a month or so ago and I did some research and it seemed like most people feel its an old wives tale, but a lot of people aren't happy unless the are spending a bunch of money.

Infections and/or ovary issues can intensify heat cycles (this I know from experience). I would start with a complete repro exam and go from there. |

Location: Online | I had a mare that had really hard heat cycles. I would give her 1 shot. 1 cc once week of progesterone. It really helped her. It cost $33 for a 10 ml bottle. She would still come in heat but it was really subdued. Changed her overall attitude. |

| I don't know why I did not think of this before. Get her caslicked. Did this to my futurity filly because she was sucking air. It is cheap and does not have to be repeated. Certainly worth a try. I am blonde a forget these things. Ha-ha. I think you will see a difference. |
