Personally I would not "toy" around with alternatives if you are running this horse. Each time it bleeds you are supposed to let it sit for awhile so it heals the scar tissue. This can make the horse feel like it is drowning if they bleed and not all horses actually have it come out their nose just in their lungs so you could think a product is working and they could be still bleeding. This I would consult a vet with

I am consulting with my vet, he has been scoped right after a very hard run and completely clean. I just wanted some names to throw at my vet. That is all

I use Kentucky Red and Lasix
My gelding will bleed thru lasix alone - I really think that I could control my geldings bleeding with kentucky red alone but I am too scared to try without lasix
I use AirPower too

My vet is thinking Kentucky Red or Ventipulmin??? Really thinking this is more nasal than lung since she scoped so clean. Also my vet said something about Flair Strips??? and another med by the name of Colloidal Silver.

I learned the hard way. I wish I had done the tracheal wash and ultrasound sooner.
They found an infection in my horses lungs. He also has scar tissue from where he bled before.
My horse would bleed and within an hour be scoped and it looked like he never bled.
Mine also has an arytenoid obstructing his airway. They fixed that. My vet never would have seen that.
You have to scope right after or during exercise.
My advice, don't waste time and money on supplements until you know what you're really dealing with.
There are so many things that can cause/contribute to a bleed. Take him somewhere that can do a full respiratory workup.
I'm 3 months into treatment on mine and have spent about $2000 for vets, test, meds.
Much less than I've spent on supplements trying to prevent it.

If his lungs had no blood in after a run, then I would be looking at an alternative reason for the blood. I would first ensure the vet has the appropriate scope to to scope. I learned there are many vets who say they scope the lungs but don't. The scope has to go into the bronchioles
Guttural pouch infection
Irritated airway
Infected sinuses
A nose bleed
