Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | This weekend was our County Fair and Rodeo. We didn't fair to well in the rodeo but decided to enter a mare in the !/4 mile horse race. My SO decided to ride her instead of me, he was so nervous all day yesterday. He got even more nervous when we brought the most in the Calcutta. It was a walking start and she shot to the front and stayed there for the entire race.
He said he was about to throw up when he passed the finish line. He said his jockying days are over... The funniest part is everyone was whipping the entire race and he was just holding onto his hat. LOL
This mare is an own daughter of Special Leader. She went to the track as a 2 year old but never raced as she was bought as a broodmare shortly after. We had been fighting some soundness issues for a few months but she came back strong. She will have a few days off and go back to the arena.

Location: NC | WOW that looks so fun, wish they would have had these when I ran my last mare. She never would really open up in the arena but if you raced her against another horse she would fly!!!! |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | Thanks everyone! This mare give 100% to everything she does. It doesn't matter if she is working cows, working the barrels or whatever, she has her ears cocked or pinned and she is ready to do whatever you ask her to do.
She is 8 this year so it has been many years since she has been worked on the track. You can tell she didn't forget a thing. Jason said she went straight for the rail and just went to running. After I get a shot at her on the barrels she will be bred and we will have us babies at the track.
If anyone would like to see the sequence of pictures of the home stretch, I can email them. It is pretty cool.
