| http://www.wbrz.com/news/horse-killed-in-mishap-on-i-10/ How absolutely horrifying is this?! I cannot begin to imagine how the horse owner and/or whoever was hauling this horse must of felt....it just makes me kind of sick even thinking about it. Does anyone have any more details on this? Like were there bars up at the window? Or was it one of those deals where the horse already had his head out? How long the horse had been on the trailer, etc.? |

| I've seen horses do this more than once... not while driving but just in general. I never haul with my bars down. How horrific. |

One more reason for me to stick with my little steel slat side.
Maybe I'll get slats on the next one too. No bueno. |

I feel bad for the owner but if I have a horse on the trailer that is willing to jump through the bars on the window, while going down the road, maybe it's a good thing that it's not around. I wouldn't want to be on that sucker when it decided to have another freak out moment. That's crazy!! Poor owners, to have to go through that. I'm curious as to why the horse tried to go through. Maybe there was bee's in the trailer?? |

I know a horse who tries to jump out the windows on a regular basis. I couldnt deal with that horse if it were mine but shes been hauling it for years. They've come up with some tricks so they rarely have an issue but still...
FB also states she had just bought the horse... new owner was claiming it was drugged. |

Location: CTX | Wow, that is scary!! So sorry for everyone involved. I don't have bars on my current trailer, so I bought those screens you can put on there. The trailer has mangers and they can only get their heads out a little bit (mostly nose) but I will not haul without anything on the windows. I know it will not hold them, if they want to go through, but at least it is a visible barrier for them. And hopefully that will be enough. Wonder what happened to have the horse react like that. Maybe bees or wasps in the trailer. Which reminds me to check ours... we remove at least 3 or 4 nests a week around the house this time of year... and the trailer is parked nearby.... |
