Here is mine. We built it during the coldest winter KY has had in about 50 years. Don't make that mistake! Don't cheap out on materials. Do have water and electric ran to the barn - make sure there is LOTS of lighting. Also, map everything out on paper before breaking ground.

It's 30 x 40 with three stalls. Two that are 10x20 and the other is 10x10.

Air flow...Do not build stalls that don't drop down in the front.  The barn where we live was not built by people who spend a lot of time at the barn.  It's like a prison for horses.  I want stalls with windows along the back that can be blocked in the winter time and full free flow air fronts.  I want them to be able to see each other and to be able to put their heads out.

We to are in the process of building a barn 32x48 3 stalls with runs so I don't have to haul the in and out of the barn and easier feeding. Tack room2 extra stalls feed room. I want sîmpleness for feeding and cleaning out stalls so I can spend my extra time hopefully

If you live where it gets HOT, you need to consider the height of the sidewalls.  High sidewalls really make a difference it airflow and dispersal of heat.  We have two barns.  One has 10' sidewalls and the other has 14' sidewalls.  There is always a 15+ degree difference in the inside temps all summer long.

build your barn a little higher than the ground around you.  if you have to bring in some dirt.  the barn will settle and you dont want it in 10 years to be lower than the ground around it.  Gutters to flush the water away.  if it just runs off the eves it will pool around your walls.  my walls between the stalls are removeable so if i need a foaling stall or a large stall i can make one real easy.  its easy to do.  we ordered U shaped metal chanels from one of the stall makers.  we screwed them to the wall on each end and cut the boards to fit and slid them down in.  We can also make the stall walls as high as we want.  if the horses know each other the walls are only neck hi so to promote airflow.  if i bring a new horse in and want to quarentine it i have extra boards cut to slide in and make it high enough that the horses cant get to each other at all.  Also lime is a really good stall base but lay it in before you build the stalls to make it level and pack it good.  i did mine after building the barn and wheeling in lime is extreamly exhausting.  Sorry i dont have photos readily available.

We are in the process of building our own little barn right now. We did have dirt/gravel hauled in and built up the area where the barn is sitting. Will have two 10x12 stalls and a 10x12 aisle. We are working on finishing the framing and just ordered in our steel so waiting for it to arrive. It won't be anything fancy but it will be sufficient for us.

ETA: Hopefully the attached pictures aren't too small. First time I've attached pics from my phone.

Not to try and steal this post but I am wondering if anyone has started with a shedrow and then added on to turn it into a aisle barn? Any pictures? advice? We are in the process of planning a barn and wondering if we can sorta do it piece by piece since money is an issue.

You so silly LJ!  I will see if I have any pics on this computer.....

Ok, this is an outside(duh!) pic of my old barn which I loved even more than my current barn.  I still haven't found any pics of the current one but I'll get some pics tom.
My old barn had 4- 12'x12' stalls(one stall had the slide in wall for foaling so it was a 12x24) an awesome washrack, stocks, a big open area for shavings or hay and a 12x12 tack room. The alley was 14' and the airflow was so great over there.  I also loved the big sliding doors.  Hoover built this barn and they are very reasonable on their prices.  They weren't available to build our last barn and I am very sorry they didn't.

We really like our barn. It is a Morton 10 stall with outside runs, office, restroom, 2 wash bays, feed storage, and large tack room. It is really tall and we ordered it with an extra wide isle. I highly recommend a wide isle, it really helps keep it cooler.

I love my barn btw.  It's 36 wide by 48 long, 12' sidewalls, fully insulated, walkouts for each stall.  4 12x12 stalls, 1 12x24 stall, aisle is 12 wide, roll up doors at both ends.  The tack room is 8x12, which is just big enough for me, and the feed room is 16x12.  I can stuff 100 bales of hay in there and still have room for feed bins, a shelf unit, and cat space.

We did stall gates from High Country Plastics, and theyre holding up well.  The walls are 4' high with mesh horse panels on top.  I would have like to have had mesh fronts all the way down, but was worried about feet.  Because as you can see from my pic, I've got one that likes to stick her feet where they don't belong.  Constantly.  She even got a foot through the hay slow feeder that was supposed to be horse-proof, heavy metal grate.  Very talented, she is.  Anyway, it has great air flow and stays fairly comfortable with the insulation.

Here is ours.  The stalls all have 12' gates on front,  and on side that all hinge.  We can make any stall into a 12x12, 12x24, 12x36,  or we can pull all the sidewalls against the wall and go down with skidsteer and refill with clay or to clean.  The observation room can be seen in 1st pic and took up space for 4 stalls but is so worth it to have a place to warm up with winter.   It has radiant floor heating in it and its nice.  The 2 stalls past the observation room have a service door to all the paddocks and pastures on that side of barn that all feed off main alleyway.   In the 2nd pic is the tack room with a seperate enclosed room that we store the feed in and can close the door in case a horse gets loose.  We have a hip roof barn that we store the bulk of the hay in and we only bring enough hay over for each month as is a pet peeve that I dont like hay stored above horses.  Over on far left is the heated wash rack and there is a service door for humans in the front and middle of the tack room.  There is also a full line of stalls exactly the same as the ones on other side of arena on this side.

TDove, I love Morton buildings.  They do very nice work and your barn is beautiful.  I also love all the other barns everyone has posted.  I'll get some pics up of my barn here in a bit.

Here is my messy barn this spring, I don't have updated pics on this computer.

Its a foltz building with 4 stalls, 2 on each side one side has the tack room and the other has the feed 'room' with water and blanket racks (love them!). Each stall has an outlet for fans in the summer plus over head fans along the center of the barn (4 fans) and we built an extra in the 'arena' because horses never seem to leave....

The front of my barn has the wash rack :)
