I think this has been talked about before but what have you been prescribed or done about your acne? I've dealt with acne since I was 11 (I'm now 21) and it was really bad in high school, mainly due to a birth control I was on. I've tried many creams, soaps, washes, facials, been to the dermatologist and I just want it to go away! Chemical peels help but they're not covered with insurance. It's gotten A LOT better since I've been out of high school. It's nowhere near as bad and sometimes my face is really clear (other than scarring) but I still go through periods where I get it bad (always on my chin) and sometimes I can link that to that time of the month and others stress and other times just nothin! I've been on a medicine since the spring and it helps some but not like it should in my opinion. I've wanted to try Accutane as I've known two people that look like they've never had a blemish in their life after taking it but my new dermatologist wanted to try the smaller things first. Anyone tried it? Let me say again that mine isn't the most HORRIBLE in the world but when I have a flare up it's all on my chin and very red since I'm fair complected and I feel like I get tons of blackheads too. I feel like my scarring is noticeable too. I think as I get older it's getting better but when I go through a bad breakout on my chin like I am now, I just wanna crawl in a hole and hide! I try to eat good and drink water although I know I could do it better. I also don't wear makeup very often and am diligent in washing my face, not touching my face, and trying to be clean. Any suggestions for medicines I can bring up to my dermatologist or has anyone tried Accutane and had good luck? I know it's risky but I'd be willing to try it.

Vichy has a REALLY good acne product, it is a gel that I use daily in the shower, gentle on the face, but keeps the acne away awesome. I actually mix it half and half with water and get the same results of no acne. You can buy it in any drug store. It is in a green bottle with a pump top

Make sure you moisturize

My cousins used proactive with great success, they used the entire line

I have had acne since I was teenager and now in 40s (yuck).

I had someone mentioned they used plain ole peroxide and it cleared up psorisis between their eye brows.

I gave it try and it has help immensely.

I use a cotton ball (spritz the peroxide on it)and wipe my face down just before bed and when I get up in the morning.

If you have oily skin Coconut oil pulling works really great to dry you up. I did it morning and night and had to cut back for a while beacuse after a few days my skin went from being fairly oily to actually having to put lotion on for the first time EVER!. I had to stop using proactive even because it got too dry for a bit and switch to a gentle natural wash. I ended up doing it once a day or every other day. Cutting out dairy and bad fats will help alot. Taking a low dose birth control has helped me a ton also.

Thank you guys for the info! My skin is actually like oily and dry if that's even possible?!? It gets oily easy especially around my chin and tzone but my nose and chin can get really dry too. My main problem area is my chin and I hate it. I'm actually on the Paraguard which is a copper IUD with no hormones and I feel good on it. I'll have to try some of what you all are mentioning! My next derm appt is in the end of September so hopefully I can wait that long and get some answers then too!

Ive dealt with cystic zits for years and tried all the store bought stuff as well as Pro Activ but nothing worked long term.

But I FINALLY found something that actually works and it has lasted long term for me. I alternate between an antibacterial soap and baking soda. In the evening I wash my face with the antibacterial and then after my face is dry I take a cotton ball and wipe apple cider vinegar on my face (burns like crazy if you have an cuts or openings in your skin). Then in the morning I take some baking soda and add a bit of water to make a paste and wash/scrub my face with that and then do the ACV. After the ACV dries (at night and in the morning) I then apply some moisturizer. So far so good!

Stop eating sugar, like all sugar (no bread, no dairy and of course nothing with added sugar). Natural sugar in fruits and vegetables are ok. It really helps more than any cleansing product can.

Ask your dermatologist about Spironalactone. I think that is how it is spelled. Good stuff.

Purity face wash by philosophy is amazing! I suggest that as a morning cleanser. And Mario Bedescu products are also amazing. You can take a survey about your skin and it will help pick products reccomended for you.

And yes you can be oily and dry at the same time, it's called combination. That's how my skin is. I use a homemade exfoliator made from sugar, lemon juice, olive oil, and honey. Massage it GENTLY over your face/neck/back anywhere with acne or that you want softened for 7 minutes.

Remember to mix your products up. don't use the same one for every wash, and be consistent. Cleanse 2x a day, 3 if possible. Glamglow products are also great, especially the mud masks.

Here is a video with some really great products and information. fef

I know it says 2013, but these are all still available and that's because they work!

eta: I would highly suggest this kit.. https://www.mariobadescu.com/acne-control-kit?
But I would only use the acne cleanser at night and buy the purity face wash I mentioned and use that in the morning.

cutting out the crap in my diet, cutting out the crap and stress in my life, and not touching my face! I had a horrible habit of resting my face on my hands and would always break out there.

Birth control helped tremendously, but I would still get those painful, under the skin bumps around my chin and jawline--you know--the ones that NEVER come to a head. HOWEVER, ever since I starting using Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing balm, I haven't had ONE cystic bump. Not one. I got them all the time when I lived in SoCal. Once I moved to AZ, I started using this stuff and I haven't have ANY since. It's been 2 years!!!!! You use it to take off your makeup and it MELTS it all off. I usually follow up by wiping off any remaining makeup with a makeup wipe and then continue on with my serums and moisturizers. I also cleanse with a Murad cleanser in the morning. But seriously--try the cleansing balm, or any cleansing oil. I'm 26 btw. Dry-normal skin.

I'm 43 and I've always had acne issues with my face. 3 years ago I bought a Clarisonic cleansing brush and it has helped immensely. Hardly ever have a breakout. I also started using Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser to remove my makeup. It's awesome stuff. For makeup I use Smashbox. It's light and doesn't make my face oily and doesn't cause me any issues.

Get a hormone test, see if your testosterone is too high. STOP ALL SUGAR. Drink at least your body weight in ounces of water everyday. You can add lemon and liquid stevia if you can't handle just water. Stop eating dairy, unless it is grass fed butter. Skin issues are simply a result of the body trying to clear out crap/detox. Most face issues are hormone related AND diet allergy related. What you eat and drink can easily send your hormones out of balance. Stop eating gluten, it causes inflammation, which manifests as skin issues, joint pain, leaky gut syndrome, etc. Anything topical is usually chemical based, so you are doing more damage than good. You ARE what you EAT and DRINK........

I usedto have horrible acne and scarring. I was prescription stuff for a year and a half but it didnt help the scarring. The best thing i have used is coconut oil. It keeps me clear and the scars are 95% gone.
