Hackamore Help

I have a 7 year old mare. She is finished and honest. Daily I ride her in a snaffle and she runs in a Camarillo tender touch
(short shank
). I got her as a 3 year old and she had been started as a Reiner. Never shown or finished but had a lot of collection work. Anyway I love her and she always works hard and runs solid. Don't have any issues I need to fix. She's setty but honest. She had her annual float a few days ago and even though she didn't have much work done, I threw the side pull on her to ride tonight just in case her mouth was a bit sensitive from floating. She actually felt freer in the side pull than she does in a snaffle and had good shoulder control etc. so I was thinking of trying her in a hackamore for her runs. My older barrel horse runs in a long shank warner and I've run a few horses in hacks. But my mare will need something light with a little lift
(I know hackamore typically don't offer as much lift as a bit
) - she doesn't need much help around the barrels. Any suggestions? Was thinking possibly a stiver or bozo. Edited to add: I know "if it's not broke, don't fix it" but thinking she may actually run a bit harder/faster with a hack vs a bit based on how she rode tonight in a sidepull. Thanks in advance!

I really like the rope nose Carl hack from L&W bits. It's more of a side pull rather than a hack and it's got some lift, stays light but you have whoa if you need it. My horse really enjoys it and he was also started as a reiner. I've used a little S and a beetle Hackamore in the past on different horses and I definitely like the feel of this one much more.

The BW Hack made by Shallow Creek Bits is a great one. It is light on the face but has some control.

My daughter likes hacks on her mares that were trained cutters prior to running barrels. She's using a chain nose JD Hack on one and a rope nose JD Hack on the other.

Thanks for all your help! I'm riding her in a nylon sidepull
(no shank
) - similar to this but noseband is flat / not braided. I can't even remember where I got it but it was sitting in the tack room for ages and just used it but she worked good in it! She's very lightΒ

Wondering if I should just get a rope sidepull? Need something light as she works well in what is shown above but need something with a little lift

thoughts? Thanks again!

I like the Wassson Side Pull best, Lance Graves sells a knock off of the Wasson on his website. These are great hackamores and have wonderful resale value if it doesn' work for you.

Love Love Love the WASSON hack! They have bend and you can get as much or as little control as you need by adjusting the curb.
