I want one terribly bad but they are ridiculously priced. I could buy a nice trail horse instead haha! But seriously, I will have a Frenchie at some point.

skin, allergies, breathing problems-oh and the price--yikes....I do not own one, nor will I ever.  Part of the problem with frenchies and regular bull dogs-there are so few-non related studs/females in the country that there is a good chance yours will have some sort of issue-this also applies to several other breeds.  All the "fancy"  full blood dogs that have very few different breeding parents.  Sorry, I know the people that own frenchies-love them but are appalled at the amount they spend to keep them from itching themselves to death!

Probably one of the breeds with the MOST health problems.  Exceptions to every rule of course but I'd think long and hard before choosing that breed.  Google Megasophagus, that is my experience with them.  They also sink like a rock in water (again, exceptions to every rule) have skin allergies and over-heat easily.   From a reputable breeder, something close to $2,500 and I wouldn't risk buying one from any one who isn't a well educated breeder.  Of course they are also the cutest dang things ever, so there is that :)
Oh and they pass gas.  alot of it.

I have a "Frenchton"  half frenchbull dog and half boston terrier.....she is about 1 1/2 yrs old and have had no health issues.  They get over heated easily....anything above about 80 degrees and she gets hot and pants like crazy.  They are also about half the price of purebreads.

With frenchies you get what you pay for. My mom raises them, but her males and females have been shipped over here from Hungary, Germany, Russia and Canada. She feels as though americans have bred the dogs good qualities out, so she went over seas to get better dogs. I can honestely say I have not seen any of hers have skin allergies and other health problems since she started shipping them in. The reason they are pricey, is they are HARD to raise. Most of the time they have to have c sections. When she first got into breeding them she bought a few dogs that had all the health problems, she ended up spaying and neutering them, and gave them away to pet homes so they wouldnt be reproducing.

my son has one and he is the best dog.  I would get 1 in a minute. goes to the race track with him and stays with friends or in the camper when he is driving. gets along with my daughters 2 dogs and is just such a friendly loving dog.  He bought him from a small breeder in TX, flew from Ct to get him and bring him home.

I have a Frenchie and I love him!!!!!!.  He is about 8 years old and a rescue that I have had for about 5 years. He has no health related issues as far as what are common with the breed.   He is blind in one eye but had damage from who knows what when the people that found him rescued him.  I would love to post my pics of him but am very computer challenged so I am not able to.  He is quite the co-pilot when I am going down the road!

I am not sure, Diesel is 8 and going strong!  But on the other hand I feel like no dog has a long enough life span whether they live to be 6 or 16.  They are with us way to short!

Absolutely love my Frenchie, Daisey (my Avatar)! I think my husband loves her even more! She is 7 & does not have allergies, & not gassy, unless we give her something to make her that way. I think it just depends on what you feed them too. I would own another one in a heartbeat! We do have to make sure she does not get overheated or too cold. She has heat and air when she goes with us to rodeos or jackpots. Yes she is spoiled! But she is worth it!

I have an English Bulldog and she is worth every penny I've ever spent on her! She's 9 and up till last year she's had minimal issues... EVERY breed has issues... I have a red heeled w diabetes so u just never know. My best advice... look at the local rescues in your area...there are many bullies in rescue..French and English.
But they are life changing! I can't see myself without one now...

I agree..........not fair to those of us who love the little duffers.   Or to them.

I have always wanted a French bulldog for years but because of the price I always backed out. I finally bit the bullet and got one 8 months ago. He was worth every penny!!!! I wouldn't trade him for the world! He as no health issues and to be honest the heat does not bother him at all. People say they can't swim but that's wrong because mine was raised with a mini Aussie who loves water and my frenchie can swim alone by himself :) and loves water, he is also the best traveling dog. Would buy another in a heart beat. If you do get one just do your home work and get from a good home! I hope you break down and get one you won't regret it!!

There are lots of them out there that need to be rescued. If you are on Facebook look for groups, I see quite a few from the Houston area.
