Location: Cocoa, Florida | I have a mare that clicks and pops, seems to be her back pasterns (ankles) mostly but I've heard her click all over lately, I started her on MSM, she's young and hasn't been rode hard, hasn't started running yet but she's very broke. Any other suggestions? Should I start her on adequan or legend already? |

Location: Windoming | My husband's old rope horse's joints clicked his whole life. Stayed sound until the day he died at 35. He was never injected. I would leave it alone unless it becomes a problem. |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | My mare clicks in both her hocks. They have never seemed to bother her. But have been talking with hubby about having a lameness exam done just to see if she is sore. But if she is, she sure doesn't show it. |

| Are you sure it isn't the stifles?

As far as stifles go, do they high pitch click or make more of a low pop? I thought the other day that it sounded like it was in stifles, but after doing some research, stifles tend to sound more low and dull... Of course, I'm sure they can make all different sounds. |

| I've seen quite a few different horses make a snapping sound like an electric fence in their fetlocks, hocks, etc. From pasture puffs to harness racing horses, they were all sound and showed no signs of pain. I wouldn't worry about it unless she's not performing or is having issues. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | My 17 hand show horse is only 4 and does this. He does have pretty ugly conformation. But a lot of that has been the way his feet have neen trimmed. So far he isn't showing any lameness issues. He cut his foot last spring and I had a whole host of issues, but we really think it was all linked to his feet. I'm going to put him on Pentosan once I get him home. |

He toes out on a front foot (when trimmed correctly it isn't as noticable) and he is cow hocked and kind of camps under. The camped under is what we are working on with his feet. He has neg palmar angles-long toe and under slung heel.
I am used to 15-15.2 hands of thick muscle. Not a gangly leggy mess. Here he is as a 2 yr old. He is at the trainer now getting 60 days and he had just hit a super ugly growing streak so that is my last image of him. He was homely. But she says he is filling back up and looking good again. Plus his coat was sun burnt, which I have never seen since I blanket him at home. He kicks butt at Showmanship and has 10+ movement for HUS so he will do well as a show horse, but his flaws to my eye, make him a bit ugly. I desire straight legs and correctness. Bought him off pictures as a yearling so he is what he is and I look forward to showing/jumping him.

Mine do too when I wake up. It's my knees and wrists that bug the heck out of me and they don't make any noises. |

The big lanky ones never do look quite right until they are 5-6. |

My vet thinks the bigger horses have what he calls growing pains and are more prone to issues, but not always something that bothers them once they are fully mature. I think that might be part of my geldings issues. He started to pop quite a bit last winter. I don't really notice it much when he is warmed up or moving out, but just lolly gagging out of his stall he sounds like a Rice Krispies bag. |

I hope you are right. I get a lot of compliments on him when he is leveled out and then he grows again and throws everything out of whack. I think he should be about done growing. He actually has very little TB in him. Goes to Poco Bueno 4 or 5 times which is really odd for a HUS bred horse. I hope some others chime in about "clicky" horses. Mine doesn't give us any reason to think he has any stifle issues so I am wanting to hear other opinions. |

I sound like popcorn walking when I get out of bed in the morning. Feet, ankles especially, knees. Going down the stairs is a joy... |
