What supplements does everyone recommend for a horse with allergies? I just spent the whole day at the vet with her yesterday and just looking to see if there is anything else I can add for supplements that would help. Has anyone tried or liked the SmartBreathe Pellets from Smart Pak? I plan to give Wind Aid or Air Power before a run to help.
Thanks

YUP... Agree with curost. Nothing else worked for 11 years on my horse and he was on massive drugs like Herbie's. Cured in about 8 days.

The loading dose one bag lasts 2 weeks. Once load dose is over it lasts about a month. I get 5 weeks out of a bag personally. They are expensive but my horse now feels so good he clocks and pays for it himself. And its way cheaper than all the vet bills I was going through.

I use Oxygen 2X on my gelding that has allergies and is a bleeder. He breathes much better and no longer has allergic reactions to anything. He was also very sensitive to fly bites and it helped with that as well. I'm an Oxy rep so PM me if you have any questions :)

How long does one of those bags last because they are EXPENSIVE?

One bag lasts one horse 30 days on the maintenance dose.  It is expensive, but with the addition of these products, my feed/supplement cost has been cut in half at least, maybe more, as i'm no longer buying expensive feed at $28/bag, don't need any other supplements anymore either.  Previously I was feeding expensive feed at 2 pounds twice daily, plus alfalfa, plus 3 different supplements for various issues....pre-biotic, allergies/COPD, ulcers, and joints.

Now i'm only feeding one pound of whole oats once daily to use to mix in my product, alfalfa hay once daily, and he goes out on pasture the other half of the day.  I'm sure as winter gets here, i'll have to increase my alfalfa to twice daily, but i'll still be saving money.  I swallowed hard the first time I ordered the product, but since then with the money i've actually saved, i've been able to put every horse on my place on the Total Support and continue to save money.

 Cur Ost.

I've used everything for allergies/breathing under the sun AND my mare was on allergy shots. I've stopped everything and she is only on Cur Ost.

THE has PulmonEZ, I sell it for $115.95 shipped for 32 scoops. 100% money back guarantee ;)
and they can also add cough/breather/bleeder/allergy into the Muscle Mass or Performance Formula. 80 doses of Muscle Mass would be $76 shipped for 2 1/2 months worth or Performance Formula is $71 shipped.

Cur-OST is great for allergies. I had a gelding that hives and respiratory issues like bleeding. Cur-ost kept them down and before I retired him I didn't have to run him on lasix. If he did have a flair up with the hives then I would double the dose for a day and they were gone. I use the EQ total since it came out. It is recommended to use 2 scoops which then the bag will last a month. I personally used 1 scoop so that bag lasted longer. It is all up to you and what works for your horse. Each horse is different. I have had people use other products then try cur-ost and use only the cur-ost. I have had people use the cur-ost quit and come back because nothing else really worked. I have two horses now that was on previcox and I was able to wean off because of the cur-ost. That was even per my vet. It all depends what works for your horse.

Have you tested to see what she is specifically allergic to?  It might be as simple as eliminating something from her diet.

Right now we haven't. I had her at the vet all day yesterday doing a BAL. Back story is I had her at a race this weekend, she didn't seem to really fire and rocket out like she usually does and after each run (once saturday once sunday) got her stopped got off and she coughed and acted like she was hacking up a lung and bleeding. BAL shows absolutely no bleed. But some inflammation and irritation, we are thinking this is due to allergies to do an off and on cough and snotty nose with bad changes in weather etc. We are currently treating the inflammation and irritation just was looking at something to help continually manage the allergies. The vets weren't terribly concerned about allergy testing at this point-been a bad year for horses and people too where we live. They were also confident steroids would get rid of the irritation and inflammation so I am looking for ways to help that from coming back. I felt horrid running her and got my butt chewed out pretty bad by some people in the warm-up pen that she was bleeding and should have been lasixed and that I shouldn't have ran her.

A horse (or person for that matter) with an over reactive immune system will test positive to all kinds of allergens.  Get the immune system under control and alot of that hyper-activity goes away.

This is a very true statement. You see a lot of products that claim to enhance immune response. That is the definition of an allergic reaction. What you want from your immune system is "normal response". Making that possible in your horse starts with "normal" function of the hind gut.
