| I am curious to see where most of this cross-contamination is happening...if there are issues in your area can you tell me where that area is? I haven't heard anything where I am in Midland, Texas and am wondering if the issues are mainly up north.
Secondly, which grain companies don't also have cattle crap at their mills? I am not interested in feeding cubes or pellets...have had too many horses choke and I have really good quality alfalfa and pasture right now.

Just dont want to have to soak and mess with all of that. Mom often feeds alone, there is no reason to have her out there soaking feed, and then breaking water, and then seperating horses and everything that goes along with. Limited time and daylight....plus we have quality forage and alfalfa. I have two horses that do better on grain..I have one that doesnt need it at all.

| Did I read where Purina only makes horse feed in ionophore free mills?
Also, the latest contaminated feed I saw was in California.

Location: Beggs, OK | Cross contamination and drug carryover can happen in any mill that produces multi-species feeds. You should talk to TDove. He's in Midland and the contact for Omnis cubes. He would know who in that area could help you out...and might know of an alternative as well.
Omnis cubes do not have to be soaked, FYI. I have two that only have teeth in the front and that's what they're living on. They can't effectively graze or eat hay anymore. |

Western Milling Co. (California and Arizona) 9/25/2015
Lakeland Animal Nutrition (Florida) 12/03/2014
and
Bartlett Milling Co. (N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee) 10/31/2014

Location: North Dakota | Your options would be Omnis (which I want but can't get here), Renew Gold, Purina, I do believe Progressive Nutrition as well. That's what I feed now but am going to just oats, alfalfa pellets, Renew Gold, and flax. |

I looked at Woody's myself. The only dealer that carried it within two hours of us only carried one kind and wasn't reliable about keeping it in stock. I would have loved to have been able to get their oats. |

Yes if you read on their website, the statement about safety was there long before this was an issue in any of the other plants. They know the value of the safety for their customers horses. |

Location: Texas | I feed Country Acres (made by Purina) high fat pellets (12/8).
I go back and forth about feeding something different but the horses do great on this feed. And it's $10.55 a 50 lb. bag.
In my area it is made at the Purina mill in Fort Worth, and all horse feed is made in a totally separate mill from cattle feed.
I know some very successful futurity trainers who feed the same thing and they win, so I guess it works.

| I didn't realize there had been any issues in VA, but this morning when I called the coop where they have always done custom runs they told me no more since the Leesburg cases. I did not research further as to what type or brand of feed, nor what mill it came out of. |

I have a very choke prone horse.. believe me I was scared to death to feed him the omnis cubes but I did it and I watched him eat for days he had ZERO issue with the omnis cubes. I use to live in NM and had easy access to the omnis. But we've since moved and I'm having a hard time getting them. So I switched everyone to purina active sr for a while because it was pretty soft pellet, well my horse choked on it. And bad! So I've gone to whole oats and renew gold and he's doing just fine on that. If I could get the omnis consistently I'd feed that without a doubt. |
