 Location: Hugo Colorado | Hello,
I am looking to buy a chain bit and I was wondering what types/brands people use most and why. I am looking into the Charmayne James Chain Bit because I love the twisted pretzel bit, but I would like to hear first hand experiences and advice from multiple chain bits. Thank you!

| Well the chain is just the mouth piece, what kind of bit do you need: a gag, something for more flexion, lift, a combination bit.......? |

I also like a Hodges futurity bit, but it has a noseband. |

From what your describing you should try a simplicity chain.

| I love my Molly Powell bit for this -- check out "The Freshman". All horses I ride work great in it. I can give them the support they need, yet it's pretty mild. |

If you want lots of gag - Goosetree
A little gag- Ed Wright open gag
No gag - Ed Wright Locked gag

I agree with this. I have a Molly Powell shanked chain bit and it gives me plenty of control when he needs a tune up or on a big pattern where we need help with rate. |

| Only chain bit I use regularly is my double draw gag with a chain mouth. I love it for slow work. |
