I'm feeling quite delighted tonight. A couple weeks ago, Chase had a rough start to her junior high rodeo season. This got me fretting over having to put her on an unseasoned 6yo substitute horse, but not really knowing of any other option right now. So I decided I better step up and resume seasoning the little horse known as Crackhead. So last weekend while the kid's away, the mom did play. I made 4 runs on her in 5 days with a pole run thrown in for fun. She clocked in the 2D every time! Today Chase made two runs on her and won the 3D youth buckle & check on the first run. Then they came back in the second run, cleaned up some of the bobbles, and ran a half-second faster for a solid 2D run. And the little mare walked flat footed down the alley for Chase. Yeehaw! These two needed today and I am happy happy! Six runs, eight days, two different riders, 5 in the 2D. Loving it!

Thanks Wrap!  She certainly has made me doubt my judgement.  A year ago I was so frustrated, I tried to dump her.  I had finally convinced myself after 8 months and getting nowhere that she just wasn't going to make a barrel horse and was just a blown up, reining futurity reject.  No one else wanted her either so I had to keep her.  She didn't gradually get better either.  She just flipped a switch.  One race she was 28sec runaway.  Her very next race, three weeks later, she placed 3rd in the 3D with 250+entries and Lisa Nicholas/Stoli My Guy winning it.  And she's been working nicely since that day.

And I just gotta keep going with this because TODAY....  Chase/Crackhead ran again...  They were .3 off in the Open.  We were grinning and high fiving and totally surprised and overjoyed and dancing a jig.  Then they ran in the Youth, cut .2 off their Open time and won the Youth.  The second run wasn't as pretty but it clocked!  This was Crackhead's first 1D runs!!!!  Ever!!!!!  125+ entered!!!  Oh yea, we happy in da house tonight!!!!!

Geraldine is fat, happy, and sassy being a pasture ornament.  She's regained the hundreds of pounds that she lost being so stressed over the summer.  She's barely limping at a walk, bucks, kicks and runs around at feeding time, and is back to being the 'golden girl'.  She has  an appointment this afternoon with Dr. Honnas for another check up to see if any progress is being made with the torn tendon.  We are 5 months out on that.  The hock is still much larger due to the calcification from the initial bursa infections, 8 months out from when that started.  We are still praying for a complete and total healing!   I don't give up easily....   :)
