Location: Texas | I know several on here keep up with whats going on with vet school and all that either through here or FB. so all year I've said, this is my last shot at winning year end awards at the organization I'm in, because after this year I won't be able to commit to making any of the shows... if I get to go at all, it will be spotty.
So this year I have been fighting to win the adult 1D saddle, because its been the best shot I've had at winning it, and I've never won a 1D saddle before. I always end up coming up short- Reserve champion buckle, or top 5, or shoot for the longest time I never even won year end 1D anything.
I came to the finals race behind by 1 point, and I calculated the tie breakers so, if I would have gained 1 point to tie with her, I would have lost the tie breaker. So I had to legitimately beat her and have someone else place in-between us. She ran her first horse and ran a 14.956... I was like, ok, I feel like I can outrun that but IDK if anyone can get in-between us. I ran Bunny and clocked a 14.718, took the lead, but it was tight. Out of nowhere, my friend on her up and coming horse blew us all out of the water with a 14.448, pushed that 14.95 into the 2D, and we were the only two in the adult 1D- SO I WON THE SADDLE!
It really is just a miracle to me how Bunny even came into my life (Craigslist and CHEAP), and the fact that I was told she had an injury that would keep her out for months... then we couldn't find the injury.. then she won and placed 2nd in the last two jackpots of the year.. None of it makes sense, IDK if she is healed, or if she ran on heart, all I know is she has stopped the alley issues and has placed in the top two twice again to win me that saddle. All I know is I thank God that I have her, and I thank God that she seems better. Bunny gets a long deserved vacation and I will still breed her to Triple Vodka next year :)
Also, I have to brag on my little sister. She won the open 1D champion saddle and the youth 1D champion saddle on her one and only horse. She had no back up horse, no back up plan, and spanked all of us all year long that she didnt even have to show up to the last 4 shows if she didn't want to, and because of that, when Bunny was out of commission she let me borrow her horse a few times. I hit barrels each time though. haha.
