How do you prep your horse for a 3 day race? What is your pre race/ post race prep at the show? And tips to keep your horse comfortable at the show.

First, and also a no brainer, make sure your horse is in shape.

It really depends on the 3 day race, if I can haul home every night I don't stress too much. I keep their back on track sheets and boots on them the week prior and ride them like normal. I make sure they have regular appointments with the vet, chiro, and massage therapist.

I pack everything on Thursday night, feed, supplements, bute if in case I need it, tack, clothing, etc. On Friday morning I wrap them and put BOT on them and jump them into the trailer.

Before I run, I warm up, wrap, stretch and run.
Afterwards, I cool them down, unwrap, hose them off, and put on lineament on.

If I have to stall at the race I make sure I pack loads of shavings so that they can lay down. During the day I will try and tie next to my trailer so they can eat grass and relax. It really depends on your horse and their needs. You can kind of follow some basic prep stuff but after you go to more 3 day events you will get into a habit. Like at big races I always go out at 50 before me and get ready. Warm up, get off, stretch, wrap, pick hoofs, and then walk around or stand with her in a corner till 5 before when I get on and rubber band myself on.

I hand walk mine a lot during the weekend so they can get out of their stalls and stretch and eat grass. I also use Sore No More mud on their legs to help with stocking up. BOT and PHT blankets as needed, as well as their favorite electrolyte to ensure plenty of drinking.

Yes that is my usually. I just like to see what everyone usually does! I just bought a new horse and still trying to figure out whats best for her. I'm also a over thinker and tend to do more than is actually needed! LOL
