Anyone have experience with it (whole horse)?  Best place to have it done (in south / southeast region)?  Any "cons" to using it?

There is a clinic in Arab Alabama that has this. It's pretty neat. Westside Vet I believe.

It's only as good as the person operating the camera imo. I used it to diagnose a horse instead of having to do a bone scan.. But it was a vet who did it in a climate controlled facility.

I was researching it a while back. Β One piece of info stuck in my mind it said that you needed to have it done in Β a breeze free place. Β The poster above who said they had it done in a temp controlled space reminded me of that. Β I saw a youtube video of a demonstration but there was clearly a breeze blowing and it made me wonder about whether the accuracy would depend on the person performing the scan? I've never had it done but would like to. As long as I can feel confident that it is being done correctly. Last thing I want to do is get there and have them doing it outside and me feeling stuck about saying anything when they are the expert not me.

Here is an article from 2013 that says it works well but the air flow is an issue: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/03/130327092521.htm

"Westermann is keen to note the relevance of her work for vets who work on horses. As she says, β€œIt turns out that it is not too important to be sure that the camera is in exactly the correct position before taking measurements. But it is essential to perform thermography on horses in a room that is completely free of draughts. If you don’t, your diagnosis will be completely unreliable.”

Climate controlled area is very important. An extremely hot day (and we get lots of them in Oklahoma) will affect the scan as will a horse that's wet.

I know the camera is a great tool.. My problem is I paid for a camera from ThermScan Diagnostics. As of today I have no camera. This business is the worse of it's kind.. They take peoples money and do not deliver the goods.

My vet used to use one but does not use it any more. He said a person can tweak it to show lameness anywhere they want.

I had a vet use it on my horse in a vet clinic, very controlled setting. It pointed us to the problem. Would not hesitate to use it again.

My husband is a ceritfied Thermographer. It's a great tool to use with your horses but there are protocals that need to be followed to get accurate readings.  He works with our local vet.  Every client gets the images in a report & they can be taken to their local vet or their shoer.

A friend of mine used it at the vet clinic to help diagnose her mare... she had spent thousands on x-rays and different tools but finally got answers when they used it.

How much does this typically cost? Is there anywhere GOOD around North Ga that does this?
