I have been at my job 7 years. Pretty happy there, everyone has their stress, they cut my hours from 75 to 64. So I have lost $$ and ins going up again this year so even more$$ gone. This is hard on us financially. ?? I do have a salary cap and in 8 yrs I will have reached it at the age of 43. So I'll have to work 20 more years without another raise. Ugh!! There is no where for me to move up to here.

Now, I've been offered a new job, a little further away, busy dr's office. Good benefits more $$$. I know there is gonna be stress everywhere but I am comfortable where I am but it's just not providing the way I need it to. I make less now than seven years ago when I started. I am afraid of change and fear That I may not like the new place.

Current job did ask me to stay and said they were gonna try to work something out for more hours. It Would scheduling for the nursing dept but it would also be on top of my current duties. Not sure if the pay would be different for that part of my job since they are coded from different depts. Any advice would be appreciated. I am on my ph so please do not pay attention to grammar or sp issues.

Never stop moving forward.

I pipeline. The work comes and goes. I've worked for 6 companies in 8 years. I've worked in 7 states in the same time period. I'm leaving in a week to go to a place I've only visited. Usually I get somewhere for work and have never even heard of the place. Change is all I know.

The way I see it, money at work is exhange for our life. Better make money that's worth that exchange, or find a new career.

Does the new job have a fast turn over rate? That's what I always look for in jobs.. If it seems like a good place to work and they aren't just hiring everyone they can find, then I would give it a go!

If it's further & more stress to the new job, I would have to ask is the additional money worth it. You'll have extra wear & tear on your car, more time in the commute - are you making enough extra to cover that?

As far as where you're at, health insurance costs are going to keep going up. My guess is that they'll keep trying to cut costs and hours as well. It would help if you could find out what the long term plan was for the organization.

It's not much further, my husband already drives that way also. We could ride together some also. I let them know I had my concerns about switching jobs and they gave me a little info on the job. There have been two in this position. One for 9 years and one for 4 years. This is a private family practice with 7 dr's. My current job I have a lot of responsibility also. There are days I just want to scream there also. Lol I would be make more money even after paying the little extra fuel cost. I don't want to pinch pennies so much and this could really help us out. Just afraid of change and feel torn because I dont want to hate where I work either. Even though my husband days I complain all the time. I think you'll have that everywhere though.

If you are worried about money were you are at now then its time for a change..
But if current job asked you to stay, then find out what they are willing to do to keep you there. Tell them to get rid of the salary cap and give you a raise to make up for the lost hours. But if the new job gives you a chance to move up and make more money then I would look into that one, LOL I'm not much help, am I....

You're working for money, simple as that.  If not, you'd ride all day.

That said, really examine everything about the new job.  I took a new job for more money and benefits, and it was like surfing off into he!!.  But that was a huge company and I had a horrible boss.

I work for a big Corp so the salary cap is out. One boss has worked for years without a raise. They offered to try and get my hours back from giving me more responsibility of scheduling for nursing but they have to get it approved from higher up. They probably won't get that worked out.

I understand bout not sure if you will like the new place or not. I used to dread going to work! (not where I am at now) So I would tell myself as soon as I woke up I would say I love my job I love my job and I am not kidding it turned around for me! So now I know no matter where I work I will be happy. But I know that some places are easier than others!

Why are you already saying it will be more stressful? You're already making up your mind that because it has more opportunities for you to learn and show your expertise that it's a negative. Better change your outlook before you change your job

If I were working 64 hours already....I would question the job-that many hours-no wonder you don't love your job! Wanting 75 hours is just really strange to me....

What exactly are you scared of? Just that you won't like it?

I honestly think it is woth the risk, if you don't take it you will always wonder "what if"..

There's nothing good about being stuck at a dead end job.

Dont be scared to do something new. If you have no where else to go at your current job, and the new one offers new and better oppourtunities I say go for it.
