Total Germophobe Posts: 6443 Location: Montana	I got a new rope for my birthday and am not very good about breaking it in. The loop coils up on me. But it was the first time I've used it as well. Any tips would be helpful! Thanks.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 378 Location: Saskatchewan	You gotta stretch new ropes out once or twice before they really start feeling alright. In the past, Ive used just about anything to stretch my ropes, I've stretched them out between two horses, tied the tail (So you dont kink the part of the rope thats important) around a fencepost or bumper hitch or really anything and stretched them out. It honestly just works best if you use your horse, just dally up and make that rope tight and back your horse up until you can see the rope actually stretching. And then feel your rope. Once you really understand what a nice stretched out rope feels like, it will be easier in the future.

Also, if it is a waxed nylon, you can drag in the dirt just a little bit.
