Some Kind Of Fun
Location: Boonies Oklahoma | So my retired mare is getting to be a momma! I'm thinking more towards dash ta fame bred stallions because of the murr the blurr magic cross. I've looked and looked and looked but I can't make up my mind. The baby will most likely go to the track and then the barrel pen. I'm trying to keep the stud fee under $1000 but will consider anything close. So whatcha think? Who would you cross her on? TIA!

Location: Gainesville, TX | Several questions. How old is your mare? has she been bred before? ? What are your goals, sell or keep?
You said 'retired' which suggests some age. Older mares that have never been in foal are generally harder to breed and more expensive. It's not impossible but it can be difficult.
That being said, are you willing to have a paint? Sky High Fame is a DTF son in your price range that is decent looking.
That being said, I think its worth the 500 more to breed to On a Gator. Super proven bloodlines there, very marketable generally, and I've seen some of his foals. They were all pretty darn balanced and solid minded. |

I would generally agree on the track stuff, Spencer. But she did say $1000 and STF is WAY over that. |

Common Sense and then some
Location: So. California | There are many to choose from, several in your price range. What are you looking for on the bottom side of stallion? What are your mare's strengths? Areas that need improvement? Then find the DTF stallion(s) that best fits your goals. |

Lol my reading comprehension is very low today! Im going to edit my suggestions to Conn Creek, he is a full brother to woodbridge. They have him at $1200, but with considerations, which i'm sure they will give he would be about $1000. |

Sorry it took so long to reply, I'm at work and on my phone. She will be 22 and she has had two or three foals when she was younger. I plan on keeping the baby and running it. Im willing to go up a bit on price for the right cross. I started looking and got overwhelmed lol! |

She was a 1D 2D mare. If I could just magically add to her I would add speed (think takeoff not necessarily top end) and make her a little more smooth. She is a little fragile minded so mindset is important also. Her conformation is rockin. She's built in all the right places lol. |

If you want to add a brain, DTF is not the cross you want. |

My DTF daughter is the sweetest, smartest, easiest going mare EVER.
I just sold a yearling stallion by DTF out of a daughter of FWF last month...the sweetest, easiest going stallion I have ever delt with. This is usually the time frame when I decide if they make "THE CUT" or not. This stallion has all the goods, so he was left a stallion and was purchased by a great guy who has big plans for him.
He showed like a rockstar at the sale with all the lights, sound, people poking and prodding him...we were awfully proud of him. Hauled like a champ, love him!

I've found the people who don't care for them are the ones who don't have the talent/patience to handle them. |

Location: Smack in the middle of WA! | One in your price range is John Fame. He's got some nice foals on the ground and he himself is nice! I have one due in May and can't wait for it to get here! And his owners were fantastic to work with as well |

Location: Where I am happiest | Royal and Famous is probably the best bred one out there being by DTF and out of a multiple NFR qualifier momma. He is $1,250. I have a friend that own?'s a John Fame and that is a super SUPER nice horse!! He is by far the most under priced stallion of them all at $600 and Mel Potter, Sherry Cervi's dad thought high enough of him to breed several mares to him. |

John Fame is now $1000. So glad I got him last year at the $600! |

Location: Missouri | What about Reb Hot Fame? I don't know much about him, but saw him last year at North Farms when I took my mare to be bred to another stallion. Pat North was great to work with and it was nice to save money with the live cover option. eta: not sure if he will live cover or not... just meant they are nice to work with :)
