I was suprised to see anything about this in The New York Times.  I wonder who managed to get that done.

The NY Times?? I agree-funny they would do an article on rodeo.   I guess you could say the ERA is drawing more publicity for rodeo

I guess so.  I can't imagine regular New York Times readers would care one thing about rodeo, but I could be wrong.  I base my opinion on all the people I know in Oklahoma of all places who don't give one flip about rodeo.

I thought it was a very easy-to-read, informative article. I still don't know how I feel about it but at least I understand it better.

Reminds me of an old friend of mine.  Anybody old enough to remember the Bronx Cowboy, Bobby DelVecchio?

He's a real character.  LOL

I'm not totally surprised -- figured they may have had this planned to coincide with the NFR and the timing of the December 29th hearing.  ERA's attorneys have a New York office with one of them having it as his primary office.  I'm sure they have friends at the Times like most bigger firms do (or at least contacts to get them in).

The NY Times does special interest pieces like this from time to time. They do a few stories on horses every year... this one always stuck in my memory!

I never knew him until his rodeo career was over but I can tell you, if he was in the room, everybody knew it.  LOL.  Fun guy to be around.

He was flamboyant in the arena (some would maybe say arrogant) before too many ever were.  He blew kisses to the crowd, waved, threw his hat, and wore bright colored shirts when others weren't.  He got the crowd wound up. He didn't lack for confidence.

LMAO!  Yes, I remember.  He was a true showman.  Flamboyant is certainly the most accurate term for his rodeo career.

I didn't meet him until years later when he was in the car business in Arizona.  Really fun guy to be around.

Sounds like a certain barrel racer that gets under people's skin. Not mine, but there sure are negative posts about her on here.

I remember when he was traveling with Lane Frost and Tuff Hedemen. Now there was a trio, lol!

Prior to Bobby, Casey Tibbs was the flamboyant guy in rodeo.

I wonder how well they are all getting along out there. Are the PRCA people and the ERA contestants working together with no conflicts?
