| I am scared to invest in a set of Pure white SMB's. I've seen people riding in those icky yellowish tinted, used to be white, boots. Do any of you have secrets for keeping them pure white? I should just stick to dark colors, but white would look sooo good on my bay. Do they stay white? |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | I'm curious as well. My hubs bought me a set. I've yet to use them because I'm worried they will get nasty. Maybe baking soda and/or bleach? |

| Bleach, Tide Pod, and through the washing machine. Helps a lot. You have to wash them after every time you use them, or else they will stain forever. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I loved my white SMB's, I would rinse them off after using them and after a while I would wash them in the washer. Here in South Texas my horses would sweat a whole lot so was always rinsing them off, but after a year they would get a bit yellowish.. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I use white on my bay and it looks awsome. I rinse them off as soon as I get home or if it's real muddy I'll do it at the show. Then wash them by their self in Tide and Oxyclean or Borax. Which ever I have. I've been using the same set for about 3 years and they just now starting to look dindgy. You can also add a little bleach. it's not good on them but I have done it. |

Location: Where you need a paddle... Oregon! | I'd love white some day when I need to replace mine. I've always thought I'd Scotch Guard them. I would think bleach would yellow the material - but that's just my theory. I could see using Oxy Clean, Borax and/or a high quality detergent. |

YES.
I scotch gaurd every few months real heavy. I rinse after running in dark or red dirt. I soak in a bucket with blue dawn soap and rinse 'em out real well every couple of months. They are maybe not bright in your face white but they sure aren't yellow. |

Location: Oklahoma | I have white Iconoclasts...3yrs old still look new.for my black.horse . I wash by hand , I use pine oil , purple shampoo.. Or just a bit of Blue Dawn w the pine oil. . I wash the white polos in washer w Borax, pine oil and Arm n Hammer detergent . If red sand I presoak overnight. My Icococlasts are the only SMB large enuff for my 16.3 gelding and havent gotten a black pair yet..
I have a front load washer, so horse n pet stuff doesn't get damaged in them like a top loader. Best upgrade ever for laundry( and for one's back)
In summer I use my powerwasher on stuff for mud .

This! My white stuff gets brushed, or hosed at the barrel race. When I get home... okay, the next day, I use a scrub brush and whitening shampoo on them. Every now and again, I will need to use OxyClean and in rare instances, bleach to get a particularly nasty bit out. The elbow grease of scrubbing does a way better job than the washing machine. |

Location: The Great Northwest | I know when my white wraps get red from a red dirt arena I brush them to get most of the dirt out, then rinse off but don't let them dry. This may be where some get the staining that is hard to get out. I rinse after brushing and beating most dirt out then wash before they dry. |

Location: North Dakota | Personally, I don't wash any of my SMBs in the washer b/c I don't think the washer does a good enough job.
White takes more elbow grease than other colors, but I use this method on all my boots.
I fill our utility sink with warm (not hot) soapy water; I usually use Tide with OxyClean or something to that effect. I then let the boots soak for a couple hours. For bad stains (like manure stains), I will apply a stain remover. Then I connect the hose (so I can still have warm water) with a pressure nozzle, like you would use for gardening. I spray off the boots, and either use my fingers or a medium-stiff brush to get the inside and outside clean. When needed, I work in some spray on spot remover. Then I rinse them with the "shower" attachment. Then hang dry.
Takes a little work, but I can usually get them pretty darn clean again. Bell boots I always use a toothbrush and that seems to really work well. |

| I bought a pair of white Iconoclasts. Horse had them on for the second time and we ended up tying out in a corn field that was pure mud. Needless to say, they were black and I didn't get to clean them for a good week after the race. Once I did, scrubbed them with some laundry stain remover and they're good as new. |

| Have you tried boot covers ?? I made some to put over my white boots and mine are still pretty white... I also rinse and scrub mine too. And white DOES look good on a bay! The boot covers are cheap to buy/make also.
