I am starting to plan a vacation this summer to Cheyenne and Yellowstone. We have been to Cheyenne for the Frontier days about 7 years ago and had a blast. This trip to Wyoming I also want to go to Yellowstone. Thought about going through Jackson Hole on the way to Yellowstone (we will be coming from eastern Kansas). Any recommendations on places to stay? Things to do? Restaurants? Great places to shop?  I would like a nice lodge type place to stay around Yellowstone.

My only suggestion is to go later in the summer. I am from WY, just north of Lusk and I went back in '06 first week of June. A lot of the park was still closed off, the one that has the waterfall, due to snow. WY can get some crazy storms and in that part of the state the snow can stick around for a long time. We are planning to go this summer too, but this time I have my 2 boys to go with. We are really looking forward to it. I have no advice on a place to stay, we just drove around until we found something back then. I think we are taking a camper this time.

They have a super neat museum. Honestly need 2 days to see it all, or we did because they were the host museum for the entire Colt collection and numerous others. From what we understood, they send this pistol/rifle collection around to other museums. My dad is a huge military weapon collector and was in awe. I love the CM Russell collection and Frederic Remington paintings and sculpturs.
Some huge, maybe they were even life sized, bronzes of a buffalo jump. There was so much I can't think of it all right now

 That's all in Cody?
How many days do I need to see Yellowstone? I know it's huge, so not planning to see it all. But would 2 days be sufficient, or do I need more?

Jackson hole is a joke. I live about an hour from there and the locals are rich and rude then the rest is just a huge tourist trap! Rediculessly expencive! Lol but 4 seasons is nice and it near Jackson so you still can visit! And I'd get ahold of some horses and ride the hello out of the mountains! In star valley I could give you directions to the best and most beautiful places to ride to! Go cliff diving, repelling, rock climbing, parecailing, hell if your there at the right time go hunting. There's plenty to do! You just need to know when and where??
