Location: MN | So in the summers I usually feed Triple Crown Complete. We travel quite a bit, keeps his weight well, and loves it. Works well for us! BUT, living in Northern MN when it's -30 below out, it turns to brick. So, I decided to mix it with a dryer feed, Roasted to Perfection, since I didn't want to completely change feeds just for winter when I plan on going back to Triple Crown when it warms up.
I guess my question is...what are the pros/cons to mixing these 2 feeds for time being?
2.) is there any harm to doing this?
Your thoughts and opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance.
ETA: My horse has 24/7 access to great quality hay, salt, and minerals.

Location: Florida.. | Personally I never mix feeds .. I add soaked beet pulp or oats to the grain.. also is the NSC really 46.5 on the roasted to perfection.. you might want to check that.. |

Location: MN | I read that whole forum...I don't have the option for soaked beet pulp and I don't really need it. He fat and happy and healthy. He only gets fed once a day right now in the winters with full access to everything else. I just wanted to know if I was doing more harm than good by mixing these 2 feeds...I've used RTP as wel one summer and he looked great and performed well. I like the benefits to both feeds but not sure if it's a good or bad thing to mix them. |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Since you only have one could you keep the feed indoors to keep it from hardening? |

Location: Utah | I have one horse that is on a complete feed that freezes in to a brick. I bring the bags in to the house to warm then scoop one serving in to big 2 gallon zip lock baggies. I prepare a week at a time, it makes it easier to break or bring one or two baggies of feed in the house to unthaw before feeding. |

Location: MN | No unfortunately he is being boarded somewhere for the time being until I can find some land. I just try to make it as easy as possibly for who is feeding him everyday. |
